Matthew McConaughey and the power of celebrity.

Hi, I’m Brian Pombo. Welcome back to Brian J. Pombo Live.

Today I wanted to discuss if you’re watching this, and if you’re not, I apologize. But if you’re watching this in June of 2022, I’m going to ask you to try something, I’m going to ask you to go to your favorite search engine. Anything that shows news, Google’s obviously being the most common, and go and type in Matthew McConaughey.

Just type in the actor’s name, the famous actor’s name. And you know, you may not know how to spell it, that’s fine, type it in, and they’ll figure it out. That’s how well known he is.

We all know who he is, is a famous actor. And go and type it in. You’ll see many news items pop up in pictures like this one. That will show up and in, you’ll go what is going on.

More than likely, you already know what’s going on.

So I’ll give you a little bit of the background.

There was a shooting in Matthew McConaughey’s hometown, because it was his he started talk coming out and talking about it. And talking about you know, he had a couple of random thoughts regarding it and what he thinks should happen and everything else.

People who had had a very strong belief in gun control, encouraged him to speak up more because he was saying that there needs to be more gun control.

Now, I’m not going to take a side on this politics or anything else. I want to show you though, how this gets played up because it happens a lot.

It doesn’t happen as often as you would think it would more than often you see this happening in the business world. But the same thing, whether it’s business or politics, the same thing is true.

And there’s a power that comes with celebrity, with the fact that everyone knows somebody’s name.

So it comes back to the same thing. I know what’s a tired phrase, and people use it till they’re blue in the face, but I’m going to use it again anyways, because it really does fit this.

People do business with people they know, like, and trust the famous Bob Berg, a quote that, you know, and I’m, I’m probably butchering the actual quote, but the whole idea is no light trust, right. And it’s in that order first to know somebody, and then you like them, and then you trust them.

And even if they don’t know you, and that’s what celebrity is, they don’t necessarily know you at all, but you know them, you like them. And the really big ones in your mind are the ones you trust, you have trust in that person.

Sometimes it could be somebody like an actor, because you saw them play a role that you really loved, you really loved the character that they were bringing. And because of that you fall in love with the person that played the character.

It’s just it’s very difficult thing not to do as human beings, we’re attracted to certain aspects of people. And even if that person even if we know that that’s not actually them, we’re drawn to certain actors, actresses, singers. I mean, just name it any type of celebrity were drawn to them.

Even though we may not even know that much about them. But somewhere along the way, we got to know him. And beyond that, we got to like them. And beyond that we got to trust them.

And that’s the power of celebrity celebrity, then you can have them say anything, they could come out for a political stance.

Obviously the people at the White House brought him out to have a very specific political stance.

And it’s in a lot of people can come out and say, but then I saw I saw people from the other side of the aisle come out and say, well, he doesn’t know what he’s talking about, Well, that’s against the Constitution. Well, what he said there is just playing dumb.

And you know what, that may or may not all be true. It doesn’t matter whether it’s true or not. A celebrity said it.

A celebrity said something and so more people are going to stop and pay attention to what a celebrity said and what the celebrities viewpoint is, then anyone else would is why the power of the Presidents is presidency is so huge. The presidency.

Anyone who becomes president is automatically celebrity. Every person around the world ends up knowing that person’s name, even if they weren’t a celebrity previously, like some presidents, if they become president, they become a celebrity.

And they become one of the most well known people on Earth. So that person can come out for anything. And because they are saying it, it’s going to be paid attention to but the same thing is true within the reverse.

If you have a celebrity come out and say anything, people are going to stop more than if it’s a complete nobody. Or if it’s a random politician that not everybody knows or recognizes or anything or trusts, obviously, you’re going to have a lack of trust there.

And they’re going to be able to get away with a lot more, they’re going to be able to communicate a lot more, they’re going to be able to get people to think about things a lot more. Because of that celebrity. It’s a psychological thing. It’s it’s subconscious.

We don’t even think about how much power celebrities have over us, but it has power over all of us. It’s not that you’ll automatically trust everything you’ll they’ll say, just the fact that they can get you to stop a little longer and pay attention. Just the fact that everyone is out there. Reacting even the people reacting negatively to Matthew McConaughey proves the point that there’s power and celebrity.

There’s a reason why he’s out there and I don’t think he understands it, necessarily. If he doesn’t need to, there are people that do, there are people that know that if you can get a celebrity, even if they have nothing to do with politics whatsoever, and oftentimes they don’t, you get them to come out and make a political statement.

Everyone is going to react positively or negatively. And it doesn’t matter which direction they go. Because you’ve gotten people to pay attention. And you’ve gotten people to follow along with a narrative, even if they disagree with that narrative. This is a very powerful idea.

And I hope it’s something that you can, you can dwell on a little bit and watch how it manipulate you. Because it doesn’t matter what your political perspective is, you’re being manipulated.

Celebrity is a power that is complete manipulation. And it’s so down deep, we don’t even realize it.

Why should any of us once again, regardless of what you think about what he believes, why should any of us be listening to Michael McCarney because he happened to live in he happened to grow up in the town where this happened, what gives him more authority than anyone else that grew up in that town. Nothing just because he gotten to movies.

He’s a good actor, and he’s a good actor. That’s why we’re listening to that’s the only reason it’s because we happen to know his name and know his face. And some of you actually trust the guy.

Even though we don’t really know a fact that he’s been talking about running for office, no one really knows much about his political perspective, doesn’t matter. He’s well known. He’s liked. He’s relatively trusted.

And so it really is a relative thing when it comes back to politics because everyone goes for the lesser of two evils, or they go with what seems like the best idea at the time. So something to keep in mind, watch it. Don’t fall for it.

Just because somebody says comes out and says something doesn’t mean you have to respond to it. Just something to keep in mind. That’s all I got for today. Go check out my book nine ways to Amazon proof your business. In this book. I discussed the power of celebrity and how you can use that to your advantage, in the sense become a celebrity of your own. Will Smith Slap and Your Business ๐Ÿ‘‹ (Chris Rock’s Poor Face)

What’s so bad about G.I. Jane anyway?

Will Smith slap and your business?

Hi I’m Brian Pombo, welcome back to Brian J. Pombo Live.

Okay, so at the Oscars, Will Smith slapped Chris Rock.

What does this have anything to do with business?

While we talk about business concepts here, this is one of the things we go through. So if you’re not interested in business, this won’t really interest you. But if you are, if you’re a business owner, or you’re an executive, you’re somebody that runs the business, you’re somebody in charge.

This is what you’re going to want to think about when it comes to standing out and getting attention.

And I’ll tell you that, I’m going to get into the details in a second. First, I wanted to let you know about my book, if you’re not aware of it, 9 Ways to Amazon-Proof Your Business.

9 Ways to Amazon-Proof Your Business. This is a book all about how to stand out, completely stand out in your industry away from your competitors. Even if your competitor is Amazon.com, hence, Amazon-Proof, okay.

At times I’ve had to explain the title, it’s not a great title. When you have to explain it that’s what happens. But if you go purchase this book, it’s a short read. Very good stuff.

There’s different directions that could take you if there’s something that you’re really interested in, if any of these nine ways interests you, I give you other resources to be able to go to in places that I’m not necessarily making money off of.

So go check that out. You can also download a free copy if you just want to check it out AmazonProofBook.com.

Now, what is the lesson that we can learn from the Will Smith slap that can affect your business?

Here’s what I take from it.

Number one, in a very short period of time after it occurred, the internet is swarming with memes.

Everything you could possibly think of I guess, it amazes me how quickly people can come up with things. And I think these people are more professional meme creators and so forth. I mean, if you created a meme, and it’s a good one, and you want to post it, post it wherever, wherever you’re watching this, I’d love to see a link to it.

Let me know, is this something you do on a regular basis or did this just inspire you?

I’m guessing that these people are really fast about this type of thing. It’s something that can’t be ignored. That’s what’s amazing about this when something it’s pretty clear that it’s real.

This isn’t a fake thing. This is it stands out as being a real incident, where somebody walked on stage and slapped someone telling a personal joke at the Oscars.

This has never happened to my knowledge.

Yeah, there’s been people that have been upset and people that have said things and bicker back and forth but never someone actually going right up and causing physical harm to somebody else, or at least attempting to.

Because of that, you can’t ignore it.

Because the two people that were involved were at the Oscars, which everyone knows about. And the two people involved or two people that are extremely well known.

Will Smith, Chris Rock. These are very well-known actors.

Very, very well-known people in their craft, you can’t ignore something like that.

Everyone ends up finding out about it at some point. So here’s the question going back to your business.

What are you putting out there in your marketing or in your products and services themselves?

I mean, that’s a little bit deeper, but even just in your marketing, in any of your marketing, advertising, sales, what are you putting out there that can’t be ignored?

And I’m guessing there are very few of us, including myself, that is doing things on a regular basis that can’t be ignored. I don’t mean just can’t be ignored by everybody. This Will Smith thing is kind of a very broad base concept.

What about just in your industry? What about just in the areas just with your ideal customer with your ideal client with your ideal patient and so on and so on, whoever it is that you’re after. What could you say or do that is impossible to be ignored?

If you can focus on that when it comes to your marketing, that’s magic. That’s the stuff that people talk about forever when it comes to advertising and so forth.

It’s those events like that. The first time it happens The type of things that they used to show during commercials on the Superbowl where it was stuff you could not ignore you would have to talk about it the next day.

They used to talk about water cooler discussions because it’s it’s when you’re at work and you’re hanging out the watercooler not working, taking a break, and you had to bring up certain things, the things that can’t be ignored.

What are you doing that can’t be ignored?

Do you can you think of any examples?

I’d love to hear them. Like I said leave a comment wherever you’re watching this. You can always go to BrianJPombo.com go to the media section, go straight to this post and leave me a comment there.

That’s all I got for tonight, we’ll see you tomorrow.

In the meantime, get out there and let the magic happen.

Whoopi, Joe and Celebrity ๐ŸŽ™๏ธ

Ahh, people and opinions.

Whoopi, Joe and celebrity.

Hi I’m Brian Pombo, welcome back to Brian J. Pombo Live.

I’m going to take two characters out of today’s headlines. Those you watching in modern day you won’t be tough to know what’s going on with Whoopi Goldberg and Joe Rogan.

If you’re watching or listening to this anytime later, though, you may have to be reminded that what’s going on right now is Whoopi Goldberg is on The View on TV.

She set a line about Holocaust say that it wasn’t a racist situation.

And like went back and forth on it and embarrassed herself.

Then Joe Rogan has had many people on his show questioning the mainstream viewpoint being promoted out there regarding COVID-19.

Because of that, he’s gotten a lot of flack from numerous people like all that all the famous people that are out there, saying they want him off of the streaming services.

So what’s the same, what’s the same between these two people?

Well they’ve both been doing something that that they either are or not embarrassed about. But here’s the thing about being a celebrity.

This is how it ties back into your business, or whoever’s handling your content marketing specifically. Because with content marketing, you have to realize if you’re putting enough information out there, you’re going to say something that’s embarrassing, you’re going to say something that is going to upset somebody.

I mean, I just guarantee I don’t care how careful you are whatsoever, you will do something that will upset somebody, it’s just a guarantee, there’s no way around it.

There’s no way to be so politically correct, that you are not going to upset somebody. And when that happens, people will call for you being taken off, or taken out of whatever scenario you’re in.

Maybe taking off as a sponsor, if you’re if you’re sponsoring anything, these things are going to happen and you have to realize it’s that it’s going to happen.

It doesn’t matter whether you’re Whoopi Goldberg or whether you’re Joe Rogan, does matter how famous you are. It’s not just because they’re famous, that they’re getting flack.

You will always get flack, you will always say something stupid, or something you really believe in but but that not everybody else does. These things are going to happen as long as you’re out there being yourself or you’re putting out content on a regular basis that somebody is out being themselves.

So I talk about this all in my book, in chapter four, on being somebody, this concept of using limited celebrity, to be able to promote business is a really major deal.

It doesn’t mean you are a celebrity to start with.

It means that through the power of content marketing, you become a celebrity to at least a small group of people. So go check that out.

Go check out my book, 9 Ways to Amazon-Proof Your Business.

You can get a free copy, if you just want to download one, AmazonProofBook.com.

And that’s all I got for tonight.

Be careful. Don’t get offended by by anybody. It just pulls you down but see the activity that’s going on out there in the headlines and realize it’s completely predictable.

It’s nothing to get freaked out over. So hang in there. We’ll see you tomorrow.

In the meantime, get out there and let the magic happen.

Celebrity Can Come From Anywhere ๐Ÿ˜€

Some thoughts on Bob Gurr, his impact on Disneyland and the power of Celebrity.

Celebrity can come from anywhere.

I am Brian Pombo, welcome back to Brian J. Pombo Live.

Now, what am I holding up here?

I’m going to tell you about that in just a moment. But first, we’re going to talk about a little thing called celebrity, and how anybody can have it. It can be developed from anywhere. And I talk about all of that in my book, 9 Ways to Amazon-Proof Your Business, you can go get a free copy at AmazonProofBook.com.

Number four, the fourth way, it’s all about being somebody and you go check that out.

Now, what does being somebody mean?

I’m going to give you an example.

Now, I’ve been following this gentleman for many years, I among other things that I have a fascination with one of the things is, is all things that are directly related to Walt Disney, which I’ve brought up before, not the company, but the man himself. And one of the things that was very specific to Walt Disney was a place called Disneyland, first one in Anaheim, California.

And all the people that helped put that together because they, it wasn’t one guy that put it together. It wasn’t just Walt Disney that put it together.

It was a whole string of geniuses, that all got picked out and put in this place, many of them doing the things that they were doing there for the first time ever, okay, for some reason, Walt had a way of being able to pick people out of where they thought they were supposed to be, and putting them in something completely different.

So there was one gentleman in a very young age, his name was Bob Gurr. And he was put in charge of developing Abraham Lincoln, the robot that was there. A whole bunch of the early audio animatronics like for the Tiki Room, and all these other things.

If you haven’t got to see these things before you got to make a trip to Disneyland once they reopen, filming this in 2020. And we’re still dealing with the COVID crisis. So a lot of these things are closed down, Anaheim, disneyland is closed down. But one of the things I’ve done is I’ve followed him, but he’s one of those last surviving people that helped create what Disneyland is today. And he’s the same age that my my grandfather was who died earlier this year. They were both born in 31. So currently is 89.

And it’s one of these things where you It’s funny how you could see people of similar age, and how they went off and did different things with their life. My grandfather went join the family, ranching and farming business ended up splitting off and doing his own having his own Ranch, cattle ranch.

Over the years, Bob Gurr went and went through all these different odd jobs and ended up working for Walt Disney and doing a whole bunch of crazy wild things in Disneyland. One of the things he ended up putting together was something called the peoplemover doesn’t even exist in Disneyland anymore. There’s a new iteration, new word iteration over in Walt Disney World in in Orlando, Florida.

This is a signed copy of one of the posters. Now this isn’t original posters, a reprint poster of the people mover that they used to have at Disneyland, which was a ride I got to I got to go on as a kid and it was just very straightforward.

And its simplicity in design has had an elegance to it. Here it is his signature right there. I got four of these posters. They’re not currently at the time of this recording. They’re not offering these anymore. But perhaps some time in the future, you’ll be able to get something like this, I got a couple other ride posters, and just stuff that I enjoy.

I’m going to put them in frames and stuff like that. But it’s one of those things where I want to bring this back to celebrity here’s a guy who’s at the right place at the right time. did a whole bunch of crazy things throughout his career. But even if he only helped introduce a couple major features and Disneyland, from that point on, he can be called a celebrity. He can be interviewed in documentaries, which he’s done a lot of.

He does, he does his own tours of Southern California, which he calls Walt land where he’ll he’ll take a tour and he’ll take you on a bus tour and show you all the sights and sounds and give you personal experiences that he had. Going through all the situations with Walt Disney and that whole gang.

He’s been able to live off of this celebrity, even though he has he’s done a whole lot of work. It’s not that he hasn’t done a lot but even if he did it, even if he just had a small encounter a small impact in the development of Disneyland.

He is then from that point on can can make money off that celebrity I’m not saying he’s making millions right now either. He but I but he is able to innocence take that celebrity in develop it into something more that no one else has been able to do.

Other people have done it through the years, but he’s been, he’s been doing really well at 89 years old, to be able to continue selling things to mega fans like myself who wasn’t even alive at the same time Walt Disney was alive. And he can sell stuff to people like me crazy people and that’s the power of celebrity.

Now you don’t have to have done something that outrageous and cool in your life. It doesn’t take much to be a celebrity, it takes something of note, it takes something that’s noteworthy, remarkable, remarkable isn’t necessarily something outrageous, remarkable means it’s something that’s worth a remark, it’s worth talking about, it’s worth convert, it’s worth a conversation.

That’s all you need to your name, to become some form of celebrity to have something that’s worth remarking about. So it’s just a little bit of a different way of looking at celebrity. And I want you to really bend your mind and look at Okay, look at your own experiences, look at the people you know, and their experiences, maybe clients and customers that you have, how many of them would be considered a celebrity?

How many of them could you interview and therefore kind of at least get a little bit of the shine off of the celebrity, all those things are helpful, it’s one of the reasons why I host podcasts, it’s not that I have a whole lot to bring to the table other than what we talked about here at Brian J. Pombo Live.

But I love being able to interview the people that do have amazing things to talk about. And just by being around them, a little bit of that celebrity runs off, rubs off. And I’m not saying that I’m wanting to be a celebrity or that I want it to rub off. But it naturally does.

You naturally surround yourself with people that have something remarkable about them. And you seem remarkable. Just in contrast, it’s an interesting thing about human nature, but it’s something you could use to your advantage to be able to build your business off of.

Not that you necessarily go out there to try and manufacture celebrity, but celebrity is a very simple idea. It’s really not that outrageous. You don’t have to be a movie star. You don’t have to be a professional sports star. You just need to have something noteworthy about you and be willing to talk about it.

Be willing to put it out there to write about it, to go out and communicate your experiences. Hopefully that makes sense to you. We’ll be back here tomorrow night with another kind of tip an idea something that can help you grow your business, perhaps even a hardcore strategy or two.

So in the meantime, go check out AmazonProofBook.com get your own free copy of,9 9 Ways to Amazon-Proof Your Business and we’ll be back tomorrow. In the meantime, you get out there and let the magic happen.

How Can Celebrities Sell Your Stuff?

http://DreamBizChat.com

So how can celebrities help you sell your stuff?

Hi, I’m Brian Pombo welcome back to Brian J. Pombo Live brought to you every day from Grants Pass Oregon. Nearly every day, unless I’m somewhere else.

Today we’re going to talk about celebrities and how they can help you sell your products, your services. And we’re going to use the example that we mentioned yesterday from the book by now by Rick Cesari and Ron Lynch.

Ron Lynch is not the actor and voice-over person, comedian. It’s a different Ron Lynch.

This is the same chapter, the biggest knockout in history that we talked about yesterday and it concerns George Foreman, George Foreman and George Foreman’s Grill and the fact that they were able to sell this for the first time over infomercials.

Even though it was an old type of product, even though it had been out on the market before and everything else, it had never been produced as a health product and presented by a well known celebrity by well-known, likable celebrity.

He mentions it here about why George Foreman was such an important part of that situation.

It says successful celebrity branding transfers the value of the person to the product he or she endorses.

See, it’s about the transfer of trust.

That’s a huge thing.

Let me continue. He says, because Foreman was considered a solid citizen who was known to enjoy his food and packed a punch of personality. He made a perfect spokesman for a kitchen must have.

His age and past experience as a finely tuned athlete, helped to make him ideal to endorse the special innovations of solvents that reducing grill.

Salton was the company that created the George Foreman Grill.

It’s that transfer. It’s what people relate back to that person, either in the moment or through past engagement with them. It’s what they relate back to them that can transfer over to a product or service that they’re endorsing.

You can think about as in any type of celebrity endorsement, if you keep your eyes open when you’re watching TV or watching YouTube or watching anything that has commercials, celebrity endorsements are huge nowadays.

You have to ask yourself, who are they appealing to when this person is endorsing?

Who are they impaling to when that person’s endorsing, what does that saying?

Put yourself in the shoes of the person that’s interested in what’s being sold and does it do the job?

It’s a very interesting concept. You have to think about the nature of celebrity.

What is celebrity?

Celebrity is a person that’s really well known.

That’s really what makes a celebrity. Is there anything else that you could use to define a celebrity?

Yeah, they may be well known for something specific. So they may be an athlete, a former athlete, they may be a movie movie star of some sort or a television star, but they all have the same thing in common.

Celebrity means known and what do we talk about when we’re talking about getting your business going and really getting attention.

It’s about being known, liked and trusted.

So celebrities are already known and the really good ones are already liked to some extent. And with that comes an element of trust.

Just automatically there’s going to be trust associated, but there’s specific types of trust, specific type of celebrities for the specific market.

It all depends on who you’re trying to get your product or service to.

What celebrities would those type of people be interested in?

A celebrity does one major thing really well. It makes a person stop. Even if the person doesn’t know, like the celebrity, if they know who it is, they will stop for a split second longer to pay attention to go, What’s this person saying?

What’s that person saying?

Why are they on this newspaper ad?

Why are they here on this banner, on this website?

What’s going on here?

It’s a quick second, but they will that second can make the difference between a sale and not a sale. It can make the difference of them attention or complete glaze over as just another ad. It’s just hear and gone immediately.

That’s what celebrities all about.

So he talks about a whole bunch of different celebrities situations, but also an interesting one. It’s the celebrities he was able to make. So these are people that have an element that could make them a celebrity and he turns them into a celebrity. So, I don’t know if you got any of that.

You guys remember this guy?

The Juice Man, Jay Cordage passed away a few years ago, but Jay Cordage had this machine called the juice man machine and he was trying to get it out there.

He was doing show a live live events where Rick found him. He saw him at a live event. He saw that he had this charisma and that he was bringing people along and yeah, he was a good pitchman.

He was good at selling the product, but he said he saw that he was good at teaching. .

At the same time he’s teaching about nutrition.

He’s talking about each of the items that he’s putting in and why he puts it in and everything else. I mean, look, they sold a book along with, or a came free, I don’t remember exactly what the pitch was, but this went along with the juice man juicer when you bought it.

I was able to get a copy of this from somebody else, but it’s still great stuff. The juice man became a celebrity to the point that Jim Carey impersonated him on the show that Jim Carey was on back then, In Living Color, back in their early nineties, great stuff.

But they made a celebrity out of nobody out of somebody that was just walking the street.

I mean, he wasn’t a nobody.

This guy went out, started a company, started a product from scratch, put himself out there, but from himself putting himself out as a celebrity, he got a TV guy to take him and make him an even bigger celebrity by putting him out there in the public’s view that this is the nature of celebrity.

It’s the known, liked and trusted.

If you don’t have a celebrity, make a celebrity.

Get out there and get your products and services in the hands of the people that matter most. That’s what it’s all about and celebrity can be a great help in that.

Hey, hope you found this interesting. Hope you found that useful.

Personality Marketing: Right For You?

http://DreamBizChat.com
More Daily Vids➡️ – shorturl.at/ctAB4

Personality marketing, personality marketing. Let me say this right, personality marketing. Is it right for you?

Hi, I’m Brian Pombo. Welcome back to the Orange Office in Grants Pass, Oregon.

Is this thing on? Is this thing on? The only reason why I had the mice gag is because we’re talking about comedians today. I got to see something that, I think just came out, which is really unusual for me.

Let me make sure I get my microphone so you can actually hear me. I don’t normally see things when they first come out. It takes me a while. I catch up real late on these things.

Netflix just put out the latest season as I understand it, just put out the latest season of, uh, comedians in cars getting coffee. Which if you haven’t ever seen it, very worth seeing if you enjoy watching any type of comedians whatsoever.

Jerry Seinfeld hosts the show. He takes a different car out that he thinks represents the person he’s going to be picking up. He picks up a famous person. Quite oftentimes someone that has something to do with comedy, even if they’re not stand up comedians.

In this particular episode, first episode, I saw the thing for it. I said, well, we got to watch that right away. It was Eddie Murphy. If you aren’t familiar with Eddie Murphy, I don’t know what to tell you.

He’s an amazing comedic actor going all the way back to the early eighties is when he first hit the scene, with Saturday Night Live and so forth, go back and watch old Eddie Murphy movies and you’ll be caught up. But Eddie Murphy’s on there with Jerry Seinfeld. They’re talking about comedy and there is great stuff throughout the whole thing.

There are a lot of parallels that come back to personality marketing, I wanted to point out one to you right away, even if you haven’t seen it, this won’t ruin it for you.

In the talk, they’re driving around, they’re sitting drinking coffee, they’re driving around talking.

At one point he talks about being at a point where he had so many people that just liked him and they were there to just see him.

It didn’t matter what he said. They were gonna find it funny because they enjoyed him.

They were already kind of followers. They had already bought in. They were indoctrinated into the Eddie Murphy Colt. That’s not what he said. That’s my own words. But it has a parallel and you can see it across the board.

You take any major personality, even somebody in a small niche, if they have a bit of a following. If they have people that either find them a celebrity or an expert or see them as somebody that’s kind of beyond where they’re at with something, they will adopt kind of a colt like personality to them and it doesn’t matter who they are.

It doesn’t matter if they’re a sports figure. It doesn’t matter if they’re president of the United States. It doesn’t matter who they are.

People will pull this along and the people that ended up following them will follow them blindly, defend them blindly. Just thinking off the top of my head, OJ Simpson, anyone that remembers, he was a popular, very popular football player, professional football player, and he wasn’t all that popular at the time when he got into trouble with the law and had a situation where he was on trial for killing his wife.

He was known, but he wasn’t that popular across the board. People my age and younger, they knew the name.

They saw him in movies like The Naked Gun and everything, but they didn’t know that much him. But he still had a following. He still had people that defended him no matter what came out, no matter how much it looked like he was guilty. You still have people to this day that will defend him, not based on facts or the idea that they watched every hour of his trial because it was all televised.

It has nothing to do with it. They believed in the person, they were stuck on the person.

It’s a very powerful tool, but it obviously it can totally be misused and it’s misused all the time. And if you’re going to adopt personality marketing in your business, you have to realize the potential for one of these things happening.

Let me get back to Eddie Murphy. Eddie Murphy was talking about everybody just being enamored with him and to the point where he would go out on stage and he tested out and he just stopped talking and just stand there. And he said, and people would laugh and he said one time he held it for 10 minutes and people kept laughing.

He kind of move his face a little bit and he’d kind of look a little funny, or he cleared his throat and people would start laughing. He knew that he was at a special place, and I think I’ve heard him discuss it in other interviews.

He talks about the dangers of having that type of following and how it can go to your head. You can let it go to your head. You can think you’re really hot stuff or whatever else.

There’s a lot of power in personality marketing. I encourage people to use it, but no misuse it and realize that when you’re out there as a personality, when you’re out there doing any type of content marketing and you’re doing it consistently as a person.

You’re going to have people that are FOR YOU and you’re going to have people that are AGAINST you.

The people that are against you can sometimes be just as useful. Who do you think shares more about Alexandria Ocasio Cortez than people who dislike her? I think I see much more memes and everything else from those people than anybody else.

She’s gotten more popular all over the people that disdain her. Same with Donald Trump on the other end. They thrive off of people being against them. It cements the people who are for them into being more for them. It promotes them.

Even though it’s promoting a negative side, it’s still promoting their name and their brand out there. So don’t be scared of negativity. Negativity comes along with building up your personality brand and putting it out there more and more.

These are all things to consider when thinking about having some more personality branding in your business.

Writing books and everything we’re going to talk about in the future because I’ve gotten to interview a lot of amazing writers and all their unique stories about what led them to end up writing books, but the results of them writing a book are all very, very common.

We’re going to talk about that more tomorrow.
