Schedule growth activities.

Hi I’m Brian Pombo, welcome back to Brian J. Pombo Live.

I got a haircut, okay. It’s a funny story about my haircut.

And I’ve discussed it before I cut my own hair. So not only do I cut my hair, but I also cut my two sons’ hair, I cut their hair also, okay.

And then it’s funny how I ended up doing this, it was one of those things where I never liked having to schedule my time to go into town, to find an open barber to go in to go through the whole hassle of sitting there waiting in line to get your haircut.

Sit there, make chit-chat with the person go through this whole rigmarole. It’s just I never liked it.

I never liked it ever since I was a kid. Well, when I was a kid we had a lot of really decent barbers for very little, they didn’t cost much.

And so I liked doing that but I’ve never been able to find a barber in this area that I was really super fond on. So I started cutting my own hair years ago, and have kept it up. Another thing is I figured because I was a cheapskate, I would cut my hair more often.

If I didn’t have to pay for it, I could just you know, once a week, every other week, whatever, I’ll just go through cut my hair, well, it’s a little bit more difficult to cut your hair than that in most cases, at least with my hair, my hair is like wire.

So it’s not the most manageable and you got to cut it just right otherwise it doesn’t work. And even then I it oftentimes does not look that great after I’m done. It grows in and it works out fine. But it’s not the best.

And so it’s one of these things where I don’t cut my hair. As often as I would probably if I had someone else cut it if I found somebody that I liked and could go back over and over again.

But I still keep doing it and but it really comes down to being lazy.

When it comes down to is I don’t…because it’s all available, you know, I’ll do it when I do it. And I put it off and put it off and put it off.

So what’s this have to do with business?

What’s this have to do with all the things that we talk about here on a nightly basis?

Well, here it is, I find that I don’t do things that I don’t want to do and will put them off indefinitely as long as I possibly can. Except on two occasions.

Number one, that I schedule it.

The second piece of that is if someone else is depending on me if I’ve scheduled it with a second person if I have someone else tied to it. The only other way that that happens is if I build that daily habit, well, I’m not daily going to cut my hair.

Then most things you don’t do daily, you don’t, you can’t necessarily make a daily habit out of everything. It’s a great thing to do. And we’ve discussed that here before, but you can’t do it out of everything.

So when it comes to cutting my hair, really, it would be helpful if I just pay someone to come to my house and do it. And it’s all in the schedule. And it’s done. And it happens every two weeks or every month. And it’s just like clockwork, it just happens, I would do it, it would get done. It wouldn’t be something that I would enjoy as much as doing it myself.

But on the same end at the person was good. And they were quick. I’d be a-okay with it. And it’s like that with everything I’ve ever done in my life. And to this day, the pieces of business that I don’t want to do or are more difficult for me, it’s easier to either make it a habit or schedule it.

If I can schedule it in and tie it in with another person to where they’re, they’re gonna hold me to it. That’s when the magic happens. And so if you find that there’s a huge block in your business if you can’t outsource that activity if it has to be done by you, schedule it and have someone hold you to it. So a little tip made all the difference in the world to me when I’ve stuck to it. When I’ve done that things get done when I have it. They don’t get done. So hopefully that’s helpful to you.

I wrote a book, nine ways to Amazon-Proof Your Business. It’s all about how to make your business competition-proof. It’s a really simple read. You can get a free copy of it. AmazonProofBook.com. AmazonProofBook.com we’ll be back here tomorrow.

In the meantime, get out there and let the magic happen.

Do It Before You Forget 🙄 (Punishment For Missing A Daily Video)

I know what you’re thinking, as the producer of this show I feel the same way. 😦

Yup, Brian missed doing a daily video yesterday and while there is no excuse for this, he’ll do his best to do that today.

Oh well, on to the next one! 🤑

Do it before you forget.

Hi I’m Brian Pombo, welcome back to Brian J. Pombo Live.

This is a show that we put on on a nightly basis, I record these little episodes, send them out over the internet, reaching you in social media land, reaching you wherever you watch videos, where you listen to podcasts. This is how it’s done.

Okay, I’ve made an ongoing effort to do this, we’re pretty close to 800 episodes now. So we’ve been doing this for a while. Every once in a while, some big flub happens and I miss a night.

I don’t beat myself up over it but I will pass on a little piece of advice.

Last night was one of those nights and there were two major factors that I think added to why I missed it.

The first factor I want to talk about today, sometimes, if you put something off just long enough, if you’re anything like me, you may forget to go back to it. And it’s not that I forget forever, it’s that I forget just long enough that by the time I remember, I don’t have the ability to do it. You just lose time, lose energy, lose the ability to do what you need to do if you don’t hit it right.

When you think about it, if you’re anything like me, if you have a memory issue, if you have any type of memory issue short term memory issues, that meaning you get easily distracted attention deficit, all that all the rest of that jazz. If you’re anything like me, and it’s not then you haven’t heard before, and it’s nothing you won’t need to hear again.

But here’s one more person just tapping you on the shoulder and reminding you Hey, if you know you need to do something, do it now before you forget.

I mean, just that simple.

So what happened last night, I recorded everything I needed to record. And what I normally do is I’ll then go through the process of editing any slight edits I need to make and I put the little titles that you saw pop up.

If you’re watching this, there’s also the title that you see right now for the website for my book, 9 Ways Amazon-Proof Your Business. In fact, it’s a free copy of the book, you can get it at AmazonProofBook.com.

Every night, I’ve got that up here. We’ll probably be transferring to something else pretty soon. But right now, we’re still offering that free digital copy, 9 Ways to Amazon-Proof Your Business. So go check it out AmazonProofBook.com.

Now, I do that every night, I add all this stuff in, and then I have to process it, I recorded this on an iPhone, so I’ve got to switch it over to an mp4 format. And then I upload it over to my podcast producer who then distributes it everywhere where it needs to go online.

So that’s the process I go through.

Once I was done recording, I put off the other steps. I put it off even though I know that it’s best to do them right away. And I had some guests over and everything else. So I got distracted.

By the time I got back to it. I went and looked at the video and I had a messed up video, which doesn’t happen very often. It’s very rare that something weird happens in the recording just doesn’t take, this was one of those times. And I did not have the energy or power at all to be able to go back and re-record the video.

So I just made it simple and said we’re calling in tonight, we’re calling this one.

So just a little tip back to you just reminding you don’t. You’re gonna forget. So I’m not gonna say, don’t forget, just do it when the spirit moves you and don’t put it off if you can help it the things that you know need to get done. Anyways, quick tip tonight.

Tomorrow, I’m gonna tell you one other thing that distracted me and that you can always, definitely watch out for. We’ll be talking about that tomorrow night. In the meantime, get out there and let the magic happen.

How to Find Your Voice

How to find your voice.

Hi Brian Pombo welcome back to Brian J. Pombo Live what we do every day here in the same spot.

Wherever you’re watching or listening to this come back tomorrow, you’ll get another one, we’ve been doing this pretty consistently. I think I missed maybe one day in the last a hundred. And in fact, my producers just told me that that we are halfway through a full year’s worth.

So whenever a half of three 365 is, I’m not going to do the math for you. You could do it yourself, but that’s where we’re at right now.

You can go back and watch or listen to any of the old ones that we have out there. Like I said, I think I missed one day the entire time. So I think that’s pretty good. Once we get to a full year of absolutely unmissed ones, I’m sure I’ll be telling you, because somehow I’ll find out. Someone will let me know.

So today we’re going to be talking about a voice.

By the way, we’re coming to you from Grants Pass Oregon. Here in my headquarters for BrianJPombo.com and we’re talking about how to find your voice.

So this was a concept that’s been around a lot of books have been written about it, articles, everything else, how to discover your voice if you’re looking to get out there and put yourself out there as a……doesn’t necessarily need to be a celebrity or an expert or anything of that sort, but put yourself out there as any form of spokesperson where you’re trying to promote something, in some way, shape or form you’re trying to promote something.

How do you find your voice?

The term voices, it’s an off the wall concept, but I think we all pretty much have an ideas is what are you all about?

What is the feel about you and who you are and the way you talk, how’s it all work?

This was a concept that I was caught up in for a while and I think most of the time it’s an illusion. It’s something that we all get caught up in as if it matters.

As if we have a say in it, as if there’s a way to really develop from the ground up, mathematically your voice, I don’t think it’s true. I think the best way to do it is just jump in there and it’s something that I’ve had to experience more and more to really know that that’s the case.

In fact, I’ve read many books. Let’s see I have an audio book out there. It was pretty good. It was called, Louder Than Words by Todd Henry.

Louder Than Words.

That’s a pretty good book on how to find your voice.

But it says the same thing that this book says. Except this book says it a lot quicker and one of its chapters. This is one of those books I love going back to Steal Like An Artist, by Austin Kleon.

This chapter two is titled, don’t wait until you know who you are to get started.

And this tends to be a thing that we use to procrastinate.

Getting moving and doing what we know we’re supposed to do is we’re waiting to try and figure out what we’re all about and what we’re actually gonna put out there.

What you have to do is just start.

You have to get moving.

You have to just do it.

This is really good.

He says, make things no thyself. If I’d wait to know who I was or what I was before I started being creative, being creative and quotes, well, I’d be sitting around trying to figure myself out instead of making things.

In my experience, it’s the act of making things and doing our work that we figure out who we are.

You’re ready start making stuff.

I just love that.

It’s a very simple, straight-forward concept.

The first time I read it, it really didn’t sink in. It’s one of those things, “okay, that’s nice.”

And you pass over it and you go back in the past year. There’s been a few changes that we’ve made.

Number one, I’ve taken my company name and changed it to BrianJPombo.com everything has changed to surround that brand specifically, I have created a podcast, The Off The Grid Biz Podcast.

You can go check that out at offthegridbiz.com.

I’ve also started these daily talks where I’m been hashing out concepts, ideas, having conversations back and forth with you over all forms of social media, starting on Facebook and then streaming out from there.

So just about any social media you could find this on. And if you know of one that you use, that you’d love to see me on, let me know.

Drop me a line wherever you’re catching this right now.

Also, we podcast this out. The audio gets sent out via podcasts, so every single day all this stuff gets put out by our producer, Sean E. Douglas, who is the champion of our group right now. We all love Sean.

Steal Like An Artist is a great book.

This is an important concept.

Get out there and start putting your concepts out there.

I was having a discussion earlier with my friend Patrick, and he said, you know, it’d probably be a good idea if I got some of these ideas out there on more of a regular basis because his focus is going to be on writing more.

So he’s talking about putting out blog posts on a regular basis, even just short ones.

I said, great.

If that’s what you’re comfortable with, that’s what you gotta do, but you’ve got to do it and you’ve gotta do it consistently.

And that same, I encourage you, if there’s any way you possibly can get content out there, whether you’re trying to promote a concept you’re trying to promote your business, you’re trying to promote an organization. If you’re trying to stand out in any way, you need to be producing content regularly, as regular as possible, hopefully daily content.

Even if you’re able to do daily content, great.

If you can do beyond daily content, even better, if you could have multiple people in your organization putting out daily content, fabulous.

It’s all about going out there and connecting with people and don’t worry about how you’re seeing or what you’re putting out there, or what’s your voice is going to be.

That part’s not important.

It’ll develop automatically.

You just have to start moving.

You just have to get out there, start doing it.

My whole world has changed so dramatically in the last six months to a year because of this process that we’ve began here at brianjpombo.com and it continues to move, it continues to grow, it continues to evolve and it’s one of the most exciting parts of my life right now.

I think you can have an exciting life too, get out there.

Don’t stop, do something consistently.

Do it regularly and you’ll find all those little pieces that you think you need to have ahead of time.

You’ll find them, you’ll find them all along the road.

Hopefully that helps for you.

If this did help, if it’s a conversation that you’d like to have, if you’d like to go deeper into finding out what is it that’s stopping me from being able to take the steps necessary to be able to grow my business.

Go to BrianJPombo.com and set up a strategy session with me.
