Catching your customers eyes.

Hi I’m Brian Pombo, welcome back to Brian J. Pombo Live.

I want to talk about a piece of mail I got today. So we’ve been talking about like deep things lately on our little conversations, our nightly conversations.

But today I want to show you, this is a piece of relatively thick cardstock, let’s say it’s cardstock. It’s a relatively thick piece of paper and I don’t know enough about the paper to tell you how thick this is but they kind of get an idea just by the sound by looking at it.

This showed up in my mailbox. It was sitting there with some other stuff and it was sitting there kind of wide open. Then I looked at him like this is this a piece of mail or did someone slip this in my box.

So the first thought that went into my mind because it looks like just a piece of paper. And it’s just a very thick piece of paper. So it’s got the address, it’s got it’s pretty sorted standard US postage paid, Twin Cities Minnesota. looks like it came from Springfield, Oregon, or at least that’s why it’s made to look like Springfield’s not far from here. It’s a little north, a few hours north of here.

This is by a company called, Renewals by Andersen. But I want, I want to just point this out if you’re looking to get attention from your customers, regardless of what style of marketing, this is direct mail, but regardless of what style of marketing, the whole idea is to catch their eye.

The whole idea is to get their attention for just one more second, and there are so many very subtle things about this piece that makes it different.

Number one, you don’t get many pieces of mail that are just like this, even a postcard, or an oversized postcard. A postcard this size, it tends to have a little bit more weight and a lot more gloss.

This is not glossy, it’s a very flat matte look to it. Okay, that’s the first thing that caught my eyes.

Second thing is, I’m not sure if you can tell from the lighting in here and everything else. But it’s a very interesting color. It’s not white. It’s not exactly pink. But it’s a very light, something in between white and pink.

That’s off putting it catches your eye, it’s not a typical thing that you’d see. In fact, it kind of looks as I’m looking at it.

Now it kind of appears to be like a, if you’ve ever seen those carbon copies that used to have these around a lot more often before copy machines became so plentiful, and then printers and scanners. But the carbon copies where you can write something, and then you get a receipt and someone else gets a receipt and the top one will be like white and the second one will be like pink, and the next one will be like yellow.

And that’s what this reminds me of.

I’m not sure if it’s made to look like that or not but it appears that way. So it definitely caught my eye as far as that this is not accidental.

I guarantee you this is not accidental. If it is it’s a brilliant accident.

Having a very off putting color is going to grab people’s eyes, especially when it comes to direct mail. Just something that’s unusual. So it’s an unusual shape and size for direct mail.

It just It looks like a piece of paper, it looks like something that was torn off of somebody’s carbon copy. And there’s more to it. Okay.

In this, they’ve got this, what appears to be handwriting. And looking a little closer, I’m looking to see if this is an actual font?

Yes, it is.

This is a font. It’s a font that’s developed to be made to look like handwriting, how you can tell it’s a font is how similar, Well, I think it’s a font that now I can’t tell it’s very well done. How similar, a lot of the letters are, if you look at the similarity between a lowercase i here and a lowercase i in some cases, they have fonts that will I can’t remember the term for it, but it switches back and forth between they have like three four different lowercase eyes and so it switches between them.

So it appears to be like someone hand wrote this. And if someone did handwrite it it’d be just as simple because they’re they photocopied ever. It’s definitely photocopied ink. It’s not actually handwritten, but it’s made to appear like it’s handwritten in that customer information.

None of its personalized. So this is a sure sure giveaway.

It says we’re available in your neighborhood where it should say name, phone number address. They just kind of wrote over it.

We’re available in your neighborhood to provide price quotes. And then it goes through replacement windows all types including picture double hung. Replacement patio doors and fringe hinged and sliding.

Call our helpline a very clear cut call to action which is very important in any type of marketing that you do get a free installation, it’s highlighted.

The coloring is very I mean, it really appears like it’s highlighted you can tell wasn’t but it gives the initial appearance because it isn’t the same.

It’s the type of coloring that would not work on this type of thing. And so it blends in it’s perfect.

Says, call our helpline by March 31 for our installer discount plus an extra 500 off extra 500 off your project / Alex with his phone number. Alex, and I’ve gotten these things before, I’m not sure we may have done we may have shown something by Renewal by Andersen. But I don’t think we’ve shown this piece before because I’ve seen their Alex character that they use in all these things.

Very, very slick marketing. And for somebody looking for window or door replacement, this might just catch your eye. It caught my eye just because I didn’t It’s not gonna catch everybody’s eye.

A lot of people that are looking are going to notice this and go straight in the garbage. But because it’s different on many different levels, it has a better chance than anything else catching your eye. That the main thing.

If you can just remember that you’ve got to be different, you got to stand out, you got to you got to try something, you got to mix it up a little bit. I’m working with a political campaign consultant with political campaign and one of the things they’re doing is a different shaped political sign. It’s going to drive people nuts, you’re going to have a whole lot of people say, what is it? What is it?

Why are they doing it like that and everything else, it’s gonna get people talking, just by having a slightly different size sign, then people are used to it, it doesn’t take much to get attention.

So these are just things to keep in mind, regardless of what media you’re using. I talk a lot about direct mail. That’s something we all have in common, and something that’s really really underused.

I mean, seriously, you ought to look into direct mail for your business. But besides that, I’m not paid by the post office or anything else to encourage you to buy direct mail.

Overall, you got to have the initiative you have to have the desire to get out there and be seen more and stand out.

That’s what my books all about, 9 Ways to Amazon-Proof of Your Business. You get a free copy at AmazonProofBook.com. It’s all I have for today. You have a good night and we’ll see you tomorrow.

Official Looking, Sneaky, Direct Mail 📫 (AAA Life Insurance)

Official looking, sneaky, direct mail.

Hi I’m Brian Pombo, welcome back to Brian J. Pombo Live.

We like to talk about tactics, strategies and principles that can help you in your business.

So much of the time I’ve been focusing on principles, but I want to kind of try something a little bit different here and talk about some tactics.

When you’re promoting your business, it’s a good thing to look at all options, especially the stuff that’s not as sexy. That’s not as new and modern, the stuff that’s been around forever, that’s the stuff that sometimes works better than the new stuff because no one else is using it.

In fact, some of the oldest tricks in the book, so to speak, can be really profitable and useful for getting people’s attention, which is really in the end what it’s all about, it’s all about standing out.

I’ve got this is a letter I received, I set it aside, I got this quite a while ago, I set it aside to be able to talk with you about it, and just never got around to it.

I am going to open it for you but I want to show you something, it’s a large envelope. It has my name and my full name and everything here. And it says, Oregon, which is the state I live in notification of eligibility. My name Brian J. Pombo says right there.

To open fold along this perforation side here, open it up, show you what we’ve got.

There we go right there. Nice little certificate now turns out this is from AAA and it says, AAA Life Insurance Company.

So this is going to be a pitch for AAA life insurance. You know, most people don’t understand this but AAA is an incredibly sharp business model.

If you’re not familiar with it, the main draw to AAA is to pay on a yearly basis so that you have access to roadside assistance. That’s kind of what their bread and butter and what that what they’re famous for.

But they have all these other things that come along with it.

Once they have you as a member, they advertise to you on a regular basis, all the other deals that they have going, which is probably really where the big money’s made, like life insurance, similar to something like Um, let me see here, what was the other one I was thinking of?

It’ll come to me, there’s another club that you could belong to. That does the same thing. Once they get you involved, they just go after you over and over again.

So the very official looking certificate noted notification of eligibility is Brian J. Pombo, is eligible to recruit quest term life insurance at group rates available only to AAA members and their spouses.

Once you’ve applied complete this for your records, if approved, you will receive a certificate of insurance. I’ve applied for blank, blank, blank.

So it has a little thing for you to fill out. As a AAA member of the State of Oregon, you’re eligible to apply for…..ok, and it kind of goes into detail along with the letter.

Everything is very personalized to me which is great. That’s really good looking, kind of draws a person and requires a lot of reading, you would think that something that requires a lot of reading wouldn’t get a lot of attention. That would draw people away but when it comes to something like this.

If the person is either interested or not interested in life insurance. they either have life insurance or they don’t.

If they do, they’re probably looking for something else. If they’re going to read this otherwise, no one’s even going to be interested.

But if they are, then you got to give them lots to go through.

Then they’ve got the coverage selection chart, lots of things to look into their AAA life insurance.

What’s next little pamphlet, benefits guarantees of this term life insurance, a little more bulleted material for people who are quick readers. Nice and fancy 31 day risk free review.

Very straightforward, but they give you a big old pack and then finally, Group Term Life Insurance Application.

So it’s already partially filled out with my name and address. I probably already showed you my just my business address, so it’s no big deal. No risk, no commitment for 31 days.

This is a common common model. They make it look as though it’s lined paper. The person I know that was famous for doing this was probably in the 90s when Ron Paul ran for president had a famous fundraising letter in which it was nothing but the yellow, like off of one of those pads, a yellow line pad, hand written that they just went and photocopied.

It pulled so much attention across the market. I don’t know if he came up with that I’ve just, I’ve heard that over and over again, they kind of did a similar thing, except it’s all it makes it look like it was actually done on typewriters.

If anyone actually uses a typewriter, but it’s still a font that gets attention.

No risk, no commitment for 31 days, when you return your application in this postage paid envelope below, you’re not risking anything, you’re not committing to anything for 31 days, just trying to try to get one last chance of again.

They got the envelope here. Pretty big, we got the return address just for me, really make sure every piece here, except for this has my name on it.

In many cases of address, very well done, I’m sure this, this piece does very well for them. But it comes down to the numbers. I mean, they have the money, a large company, like this has the money to send out a lot of this stuff.

They already know how many people are opening it. How many people are going to buy it. They know all that they’ve got all that information.

You’ve got to know whether it’s going to work for you. Based on your numbers, how many can you send out how many people actually have to open it and pay attention and do whatever the thing is, you’re asking them to do that call to action.

Very interesting piece. It’s something you can learn from, especially the the what gets you to open it.

It’s an oddly shaped envelope. Doesn’t give you any information on the outside.

Honestly, it looks very official, which is a different way of doing it. It’s got the pre-sorted postage just here.

So you that pretty much tells you it’s advertising. Got an address back here, but no name, no name of a company, there’s no way for you to know until you open it up in that curiosity, especially since they have a nice little open window here with your name popping out that curiosity draws people in.

Something to really keep in mind.

Yes, with direct mail, but really with anything when you’re talking email, anything else if you can make things look official, if you can have a have a curiosity, piece to it that really draws people in.

People will do it more often.

It’s not a for sure thing. It’s not.

It comes down to you know how good your list is and everything else. But you got to pay attention to these types of simple ideas to help make your tactics better, especially when it comes to direct mail.

Hey, that’s all I have for tonight. Go check out my book for more larger base strategies that you can use across the board, 9 Ways to Amazon-Proof Your Business.

Wedding Invitation: Direct Mail ✉️

Direct mail breakdown on a piece of mail Brian recently received.

Wedding invitation and direct mail.

I’m Brian Pombo, welcome back to Brian J. Pombo Live.

I’m going to show you something real quick, but I want to warn you, okay?

I’m not showing it to you because I want you to go off and do this exact thing.

If you’re in business, if you’re involved in marketing, it’s going to be tempting just to rip this off. Now you can, there’s a way to go about doing it but I want you to get the idea of the concept behind it, which is really cool.

The concept is taking something that would not normally be in a particular area and bringing it there and I’ll show you what I mean in a second.

This is a piece of mail a friend showed me I’m hiding their name but I want to show you the envelope first. This showed up in their mail, it has what appears to be handwriting.

Now, in closer inspection, you can tell this was done with a printer, but it was done very well.

It’s very legible but at the same time, it appears to be handwriting dumb with a blue pen. You’ve got the address up above without a name. It’s just sweet 200.

It can be anything.

It’s Kirkland, Washington, it could be anything. It’s got live stamps, makes it very much looks like and feels like a wedding invitation or a card or invitation of some sort, nothing on the back.

Very unassuming, you have to open this.

It’s got your name.

It’s spelled correctly and everything you have to open this and the toughest thing about direct mail as with it.

You could take the same thing and flip it and say this, the toughest thing about email, the toughest thing about just about any form of direct marketing is getting them to actually open it, getting them to open the email, open the direct mail.

So this is a good job of getting past that first step.

Being that the idea that you actually made it to the right place. He opened it up there is a card. Good stock.

Looks like a wedding invitation has a picture of a couple on the front.

Who is this?

I don’t know who this is.

It says a special VIP invitation.

Oh my gosh, who is this?

Scott and Amy Yancey.

Then the only thing that throws off this is if you actually recognize the names. Supposedly these folks are well known. And then there’s a QR code on the front.

Why, I’m not sure I didn’t go to it.

But you open it up and of course, it shows off that it’s an ad.

The first thing it shows you’ll receive $250 Starbucks redemption when you arrive, okay, you must really like or go to Starbucks on a regular basis for this to draw your attention.

But if you do, that’s a hot thing to offer.

I mean, that’s all 250 bucks.

We’re excited to extend this very special VIP invitation to you and your guest. That’s interesting.

Then we continue on with kind of the, the fake writing.

It’s personalized, it said, Dear blank, I’m the one that you know, redacted that, congratulations, you’ve been pre qualified as a via as a VIP guest please accept this private invitation to the make money and preserve wealth.

Lunch conference, call one 800 To reserve your VIP event credentials at no cost to you and one guest remember, just one new idea can change your life forever to your success. Scott and Amy, it appears to have been actually signed, a&e stars.

PS, remember, as our personal guests, you and your guests will receive free admission and our valuable resource discs at the event.

So it’s a pitching event that they’re inviting you to. They’ve got a bribe attached to it and they’ve got you in to actually do it.

Now on the back, you have a lot more details.

This is the only thing that looks pure advertising right back here. Real Estate income event make more money with income properties, free lunch, the name and the guest.

Your free CD is your resource discs.

Where it’s at and everything else very interesting. It’s a very good way to be able to sneak in and to be able to get somebody’s attention.

Whereas a normal piece of direct mail a postcard been sent in the mail, I guarantee you would get less draw than this little piece right here.

Even if you’re offering the exact same things, everything else because it comes off as commercial right off the bat because this draws you in with not being a commercial.

People are going to pay closer attention to it. They’ve drawn themselves in they’ve taken time with it.

The more time you take from person the more they’re going to spend because they want to find out what the deal is with this.

They want to get that value back. It’s a very interesting idea.

Like I said, you don’t have to go out and build a fake wedding invitation to reach people you can. But you don’t have to the same thing can be done in any type of if you just take direct mail in general.

Think about all the different things you get in the mail. And how can you dress yours up like that? Just to get the attention?

Yes, necessary.

Not that you’re trying to trick anybody but what if you just need their attention for just one split second longer to really put out a clear cut offer, you got to have that otherwise, it’s not worth the time going through all this mess to do you got to have an offer.

You got to be able to track it and if you do that, you’ll probably have success.

It’s one of those fun things with direct mail that is unlike any other type of advertising out there. But the same principles apply, regardless of what advertising you do end up going with. So hopefully that’s helpful.

Good check out my book, 9 Ways to Amazon-Proof Your Business.

Postcard Marketing Tips 📮

A case study example on using postcards to advertise in your business.

Postcard marketing tips.

Hi I’m Brian Pombo, welcome back to Brian J. Pombo Live.

I want to talk a little bit about postcards specifically for marketing. This is one of these oversized postcards and kind of talk about the direction you can go, just a few tips that you can work with here.

So one of the things is if you’re using any type of direct mail postcards, you just have to think about the person on the other side who’s receiving it, and what their thought pattern is and you got to think about it for yourself.

For one thing, it’s the thing about postcards, you notice that nobody really sends postcards anymore, like personally, one on one you don’t see them that often.

Maybe you do.

I don’t see it that often. You could still purchase them from some places, touristy areas will still sell postcards, but it seems like most people buy them for themselves and rarely send them anymore.

But maybe it’s just me, I’d love to find out from you,, do you still get postcards?

It’s tough to send a postcard and not have it be known to be a commercial right off the bat, right?

The real question is that the trick that I think when it comes to a postcard is can you hold back what the postcard is about or can you say what the postcard is about so quickly that they read it?

Real quick they get the point, they can read more if they want, but they’re already left with something with that first sentence, those first few words are they getting the idea, if you’ve got a deeper idea, then the best thing to do is to hide what the postcard is about.

So it actually means the opposite of what you would think it would mean. It means fewer pictures, fewer graphics, fewer things that will give away, and more words.

Because it causes people to have to read more words, to get to the point because not a lot of people, most people are not going to throw something away right off the bat.

Now if they see it’s a postcard, it’s got a bunch of words, I know a lot of people will just take it and toss it.

But there’s going to be a number of them, specifically depending on which words are the biggest on whether those words attract them further.

So if you’re looking to get a certain sector of your market to pay attention, then you got to make sure those biggest words are the words that are going to catch their eye that calls them.

And so this is an interesting one very typical of postcard marketing. But there are a couple of good things on here.

So the first thing I look at is what are the things that draw my attention?

And the real question is, is whether they want the things to draw your attention or not?

So the first words I see on here, if you can see it, well I could put it sideways to get a little closer to you. But those of you who are listening to this aren’t going to be super useful but you might be able to glean some items from it you go over to BrianJPombo.com and watch the video, actually see the postcard.

It says free installation. That’s one of the largest things that I see right off the bat on all windows and patio doors. That’s the first thing that jumps out at me.

Secondarily, I would say up here and kind of cursive writing it says end of the summer sales event. So this has to do with windows and patio door installation. And you’re either going to be interested in that right now or you’re not selling on September 30.

So this is definitely a very specific thing it says plus zero down zero payments, zero interest for one year.

Okay, on the opposite end, the things that stand out here, the windows, the window homeowners trust.

I’m not really sure what that means off the top of my head window homeowners trust.

Are you a window homeowner, does anyone consider themselves a window homeowner?

So that’s an odd thing to make so bold, secondarily bold where it says what is Renewal by Andersen Windows is made of right?

Straight into the brand name, which I’ve heard of before. But personally, I don’t have a whole lot of knowledge on that.

I know that it’s a brand name. It’s not set aside as if it’s a brand name.

It’s set aside like it’s an actual sentence that I would know what it meant when I read it. If I didn’t know about Renewal by Andersen Windows and that that’s brand new that’d be a very confusing sentence to me.

There’s a whole lot more writing here all our windows are made from fibrex material well with that you’ve got a capital it’s capitalized. It’s got the copyright symbol on it. A revolutionary composite made from reclaimed wood fibers blended with Polymer. This gives the strength of our windows, the durability of wood, and the low maintenance features of vinyl.

And it goes on and on kind of boring stuff to me. I don’t know maybe this appeals to somebody, but I doubt.

It shows fibrex in comparison to vinyl, aluminum, and wood in terms of insulating properties and low maintenance, and so on so forth.

I guess if a person was really interested, they may read through that and then call here’s the call to action, call this number or go to this website.

More than 300,000 homeowners recommend it.

It’s very Addy. It’s very advertisement.

And it turns a lot of brains off, I can tell you that straight off the bat.

One interesting thing, it’s got a door hanger thing here it says hang on the door. So this was made, no doubt to be a door hanger. It’s kind of it’s perforated here, let me see if this pops out easily if it actually would make a good door hanger.

So I guess they can if they have extras of these, they can use them as door hangers. So yeah, that works. That’s it said that caught my eye because it was different.

So you got to realize anything that’s different. That’s odd.

You may get a few more people paying attention, but for how long, and what are you actually trying to get them to do?

Here’s an interesting thing about this postcard that really makes it stand out. I’ll tell you why it stopped me the rest of this postcard I would have tossed even being in marketing and paying attention these type of things.

Most of it did just did not catch my eye whatsoever. But this down here, fake handwriting.

Okay, I know what’s fake because it’s merged a little bit in the processing. But I had to look twice it’s very good fake handwriting. It says to mention this card and receive an additional $500 off your project. It’s got arrows, it checkmarks, yes. eligible for neighborhood discount?

It’s a checkmark, yes, it looks like blue ink. And it looks like actual handwriting down at the bottom.

This is also an interesting thing, he’s got like a fake business card here.

That looks as though it’s perforated. But it’s not it’s like to cut out and says Alex Bannng route manager and he says to, call my number to get a free quote. He has written and circles his phone number here, which is it’s a local phone number.

So this is something that I looked at, because I’m like, Did someone actually write on this piece of mail, that’s a draw. That is something that but it’s in a very small corner of this, it’s a very small piece of this, of this thing, but that drew me in.

Now if I was interested in getting these things that might cause me to make that phone call. Other than that, the call to action is not super strong here.

All the language is very adze, shall I say?

It’s just screams of advertising.

So I also on the back it also has said free installation plus $500 off everything.

So other than that, it’s not a great ad, I’d be curious to see if this really did what they wanted it to do.

Did it really pull in enough business or enough phone calls to facilitate the cost because it’s a good size, good size a piece of mail.

Looks like they sent it pre-sorted which is, it’s a form of bulk mail there you can say.

Interesting, very interesting that this is from up north of Springfield, Oregon, which is up north a ways from where I’m at in Grants Pass.

But interesting piece. It’s something you can learn from pay attention to other people’s marketing, especially if it’s in the media, that that you’re looking to use of postcards, watch other postcards that are out there. See what you like what you don’t like what draws your eye?

What doesn’t draw your eye, ask other people what they think, hey, if this showed up in the mail, what would you think?

Just throw it in front of somebody and see what they’ll say. It’s interesting what you’ll find out. So hopefully that’s helpful.

JW Direct Mail Review 📫👀 (Jehovah’s Witness)

It’s the vlog you’ve been waiting for, all about Jehovah Witness Direct Mail! 😏

And a plug for Steve Sipress about Direct Mail, check him out!

Transcription

JW direct mail.

Hi I’m Brian Pombo, welcome back to Brian J. Pombo Live.

And if you’re curious, yes, JW does refer to the Jehovah’s Witness, I got a piece of direct mail. I heard that because of the pandemic, Jehovah’s Witnesses weren’t going door to door anymore. And their…believe it or not, they’re actually using the mail.

And I’m going to go through a piece of their mail and talk about how it relates back to your business, how you could use direct mail, how you could use sales concepts, and so forth.

Today’s my birthday, May 13. This may be coming out a day later.

But let’s talk about this. And this, I’ve been doing direct mail reviews for quite a while now. And since I’ve started, I realized that quite a few other people also do the same type of deal.

So I think it’s great and it’s definitely worth watching some of those people out there one in particular Steve Sipress, if you haven’t seen Steve Sipress, go check them out on YouTube and Facebook, he’s probably in some other places. H

is last name spelled, S I P R E S S, I believe Steve Sipress, he has every Mondays direct mail Monday where he will take a piece of direct mail or a concept around direct mail and talk about it. So that’s great stuff.

This is I’ve blocked out some of the things this wasn’t even directly related to me this was to a previous occupant and or current resident, and I’m current residents.

So I opened it up, and it’s from a fellow named Barry from up north from here and just on the envelope just to give you a concept, very well done. It has it kind of has a flowery thing on the envelope, which gives it that field that it’s from somebody that you know, and then it’s not business related, not just real basic live stamp there, which is also a good thing.

If you’re trying to get through to somebody, and you don’t want to appear to be junk mail or doing any type of a pitch.

I’m not talking just if you’re if you’re trying to bring someone over to your way of thinking when it comes to religion I’m talking about across the board, it doesn’t matter. When it comes to people.

People respond the same way to most of these concepts. So you got to understand the big picture here. Whether you’re selling TVs, or selling Jesus Christ, that’s kind of the same concept.

At least in get into getting in front of them, obviously, you’re going to have a different different discussion that you’re going to have with them right off the bat. One thing I’d recommend if you’re doing something like this, if you there’s any way that you can hand write these details or hire somebody to hand write the the return address…

(one of Brian’s kids opens the door) okay, go talk to mom, can you shut my door please.

She’s outside, I think.

I have three kids, and sometimes they don’t realize that I’m doing my show. So that’s always fun.

We’ve got you if you hand write the return address, and the address gives that much more a feel of being a real thing. And something that is people are going to open it. Most people this is a concept going way back Gary Halbert, the marketing genius used to always talk about the A and the B pile about how people take their mail.

And they separate it right off the bat before it getting any deeper before opening any envelopes. If it looks like an advertisement and something they wouldn’t be interested in, it automatically goes in the trash.

So if you can get past that by basically, given the concept that you are not just typical junk mail, that you’re something different that you might be someone they even know it will at least get your envelope open, which is one of the toughest things to do.

So that’s that’s just the envelope and then we go a little bit further here. And we’ve got it’s really interesting, you don’t see this as often anymore. I’ll try to cover up his address here. Barry’s there his address, but you’ve got kind of the the printed out stationary paper used to see that a lot in the in the 90s and early 2000s.

When you just print out kind of a background on your, on your printer. It’s good paper which is also one of the things that kind of will draw person in if the paper is not too glossy, but if it has a little bit of stiffness to it, it’ll get a little bit more attention and it says to to the previous resident or current resident and goes through I hope you and your family are doing well.

My name is Barry and I live in Vegas, his full name, I live in your neighborhood, he doesn’t really live in our neighborhood. He lives quite a few hours north of here, but I guess it’s generally a neighborhood, I have some important information that I can share that might be of interest to you, especially now we’re dealing with a worldwide pandemic.

All of us are concerned with what is going on in the world today. Many are worried about what is going to happen in the future.

He has a question mark, there probably shouldn’t be there. Will suffering ever end gets into the heavy stuff pretty quick there. I’ve enclosed a tract that shows the very comforting answer from the Bible to this question.

If you are interested to know more, I invite you to check our website jw.org. Please keep in mind, we offer free Bible studies. this Bible study will answer many questions such as why do we grow old and die?

What is the purpose of life?

How can you find real happiness or why does God allow suffering?

I’m hoping to discuss this with you, you’re welcome to contact me at the above address or phone number. So it’s got all that information there. Sincerely, Barry.

And he does have an actual signature there, which is nice. Even if you do print it out, even if that hand writing also draws people….

(Take 2, one of Brian’s kids opens the door) Yeah, please close the door. Thank you.

We’ve got handwriting would also be helpful even on the letter. But it’s not, it’s not absolutely necessary. These are just ways to be able to attract more attention, to be able to get your thing read, it makes a big difference.

And we go into more and more details.

As far as how I would go about handling this a little bit differently. He has these questions, you know, why do we grow old and die?

What is the purpose of life, I would have bulleted those out.

If you break up your sentence structure quite a bit, you also draw more people to read it, give a little bit of space in between the paragraphs have more paragraphs, it tends to invite the eye through especially people that are just kind of glancing over, I tend to dig into these things more often.

Because I have a marketing eye and I’m looking for what they’re doing.

Right what they’re doing wrong. Is this something that we could talk about on on tonight’s video, and it is. So there’s a lot of different ways that he can improve.

He does have a call to action, which in the senses, you’re welcome to contact me at the above address or phone number, which is nice also has a website. If you give one single call to action, it tends to get better results.

Although some people say if you at least give to two different types of calls to actions of go to a website or call this number. That can also be helpful, especially if you’re saying it’s the same thing.

He’s kind of offering a little bit of everything here offering the you know, I invite you to check out our website, if you’re interested to know more. It’s very vague.

Keep in mind, we offer free Bible studies, maybe if you say we have a specific Bible study coming up, we’d love for you to be part of it, does it want you to come check it out on this date, if the more specific you can be, the more likely it is you’re going to get response across the board. And you can measure response a lot easier that way as well.

Overall, something is better than nothing. The fact that they’re going I applaud them for wanting to go door to door. And of course it comes with like you said, a little tract here.

That this is one of the things that Jehovah’s Witness, if you’ve ever seen that materials, they have all the same materials, I believe they’re produced directly from the, from the head of the church itself.

And, you know, we can go into how how well, brochures, work out, this has a whole lot of questions, a couple of little quotes from the Bible here and there. And learning more without cost.

Basically, this has a little bit of a better call to action, you know, read lesson eight of this brochure, discuss the Bible with Jehovah’s Witnesses, click here, click here, you know, check mark this box, put down your language, your name, your address, fill out and send in this form.

So you can send that back to them and get more information type of deal. So overall, it’s better than nothing. If you’re wanting more responsive, you’ve got to treat it more like an exciting thing that people will be interested in.

And I got more details as far as how you can go about doing this with your business on a very broad across the board, long term strategies, my book, 9 Ways to Amazon-Proof Your Business. You get a free copy at AmazonProofBook. com.

That’s all the time I got for tonight. Have a great one. Get out there and let the magic happen.
