Different Media’s, Are Different πŸ˜‰

A look at how to use different medias and why no two are exactly the same.

Different media’s are different.

Hi, I’m Brian Pombo. Welcome back to Brian J. Pombo Live.

I don’t have a very outrageously deep concept for you today. But it is something to take into consideration when you’re talking about looking at different media’s in order to reach your current customer base. Your future customer base or your past customer pays.

All those different media’s have high points and low points to them. And I came up with today’s topic, because this is another side mention, this is not just me, I’m not getting any money for this, but I have this little pack of icebreaker cards, which I mentioned last week, you can go check out.

Go check out that episode regarding that, wherever you’re watching or listening to this, or you can go to BrianJPombo.com and check it out there.

But I just pull one of these out, and it gets my brain flowing to a certain wavelength.

This one here is says would you rather watch a movie at home or at the movie theater?

I’ll tell you how I think about that is I like both for different reasons. For me, it’s a completely different experience watching it in a nice movie theater than watching it at home. Even if it’s quiet and the kids have gone to bed.

A movie in those two different locations are different experiences completely, especially if it’s a nice movie theater.

And today’s nice movie theaters. They have it so well done to where they are the ones that had the really nice seats, or the couches or something like that.

The really nice situation in a movie theater, to where you can get some food, you can get a nice drink, you can get, you know a bunch of those really cool things to where it’s an experience to go to the theater. Even if you you aren’t watching a good movie.

So there was a when I lived in California, there was a place in Oakland, California, that was the parkway movie theater.

Those of you who may remember this was good 10, 20 years ago.

And they had it was one of the first lounge movie theaters I’d ever seen.

The first one I had been to. And we went there we went there as often as we could, it was kind of an arthouse movie theater.

So they played either off the wall stuff or second run material, and you go there and then you buy a slice of pizza, you can have a glass of a pint of beer. And it was just a cool experience.

It wasn’t the the absolute cleanest, most fabulous place in the world. But it was so different and so unique, that I can’t name for you all the movies that I saw there.

Because I saw some movies there that I purposefully blocked out of my mind. But I can’t tell you a few of them and it’s the but I always enjoyed myself no matter what even if the movie was no good.

I always enjoy myself going into that theater. And that’s the type of way if there’s a movie theater, that’s an experience like that, I’d much rather go with a friend with my wife with whoever and have a good time out among people.

I really am an extrovert, the humble most people don’t guess that. I really am an extrovert first. Not necessarily a people person but I’m an extrovert nd I like going out and doing it now at home is a whole nother experience.

If I can have a movie theater style setting at home, I totally would in fact, I plan to have a movie theater room.

Right now the way things are set up, I’ve got a great TV, I’ve got a great situation and I like it.

But I’d much rather go out. It’s a totally different feel coming home to watch something to something I do every day. And it doesn’t have the magic of going out. But here’s how this relates back to business.

Okay, here’s two things, they should be the same thing. And a lot of people talk about them as if they’re the same thing.

There was all this talk when television started showing movies and everything else, especially when color television came out and when you started having, VHS cassettes and DVD players in the home.

All this talk about while movie theaters is going to go away.

So why would people go out and do something like that?

When they can sit at home and do the same thing?

Why would they why would they ever do that?

I always knew that as long as movie theaters are willing to add more value, they’ll never go away because it’s a different experience to different media’s they’re serving the exact same material.

And in some cases, nowadays, you’ve got first run movies that you could watch at home, immediately, same time.

So movie theaters don’t even have that up on it but it’s still two different experiences.

Here’s how it plays to your communication with your people, let’s say, you know, do should I do an audio podcast or should I do video?

Well, let me ask you, do you watch only videos, do ever listen to audio?

Now some people are going to be a little bit more one or a little bit more another. But you do two of the two of these things at different times for different reasons. When I’m out mowing the lawn or doing any work with my hands, I like to have an audio podcast going.

If I’m in a car, I like to have something that I can watch because I have time I don’t have anything else going on. I can sit there, I could watch and listen.

So hopefully that makes sense to you. It’s you got to realize different media’s are different. And sometimes it doesn’t have to be one or the other. Sometimes it can be both. And you could be playing to two different crowds.

It’s even in social media, a lot of people say Well, are you on Instagram or are you on Facebook, are you no all, are you on that?

And many people occupy different places. They may spend more time in one place, but they have a presence in all those places. I recommend you do the same as long as it makes financial sense for your business.

No reason to spend time in a place that isn’t taking you anywhere or doing anything for you whatsoever. But that’s just my my point of view.

I cover a lot of these concepts in my book, 9 Ways to Amazon-Proof Your Business although it’s a very short book, very straightforward and to the point, a ways to be able to overcome competitive forces.

Go get yourself a copy or you can download a free copy and my website AmazonProofBook.com.

That’s all I got for tonight. You have a good one.

In the meantime, get out there and let the magic happen.

Trump’s Truth vs. Elon’s Twitter πŸ₯Š

A look at current events going on with Trump and Elon’s social platforms.

Trump’s Truth versus Musk’s Twitter.

Hi I’m Brian Pombo, welcome back to Brian J. Pombo Live.

I’m using this time to really explain something that isn’t being explained that clearly and at least it’s not being heard by a lot of people who keep asking me what the heck is going on. So let’s talk about it a little bit.

This is a little bit of reflection on the news but I’ll find some way to turn it around into advice for you also in your business.

So I’m a Business investor and so that’s a lot of what I do is talk about how you can work this in your business.

I use this podcast, my book and everything else within BrianJPombo.com, as a way to be able to con connect with business owners, either successful business owners who are looking for partners, or people who are looking to go into business.

So that’s the whole point of BrianJPombo.com.

In fact, while I’m at it might as well talk about my book, 9 Ways to Amazon-Proof Your Business. This is specifically for business owners and executives that are looking to make themselves competition-proof.

Okay, this isn’t going to work for everybody but if you are in that kind of position, and you’re looking to beat out the bad guys, even if the big guys in your industry are as big as amazon.com, that sort of hints Amazon-Proof.

So I’ve got to you go purchase this book. It’s inexpensive, it’s a quick read and it’s a you could also just download it for free at Amazon proof book.com. Amazon proof book.com.

Let’s talk about Trump. Let’s talk about Musk, sorry about what’s going on here. So, got a little bit more information today on what exactly is happening.

Although it was kind of clear early on what happened. Now, we all know that Elon Musk went and purchased Twitter, that purchase is still going through all of the rigmarole of the official stuff. But in terms of the two parties, agreeing to him purchasing, that’s all happening now.

They’re waiting for all the regulations and stuff to go through. But as that’s happening, everyone is a huge portion of people that were put off by Twitter, or jumping back into Twitter.

This is kind of driving Twitter’s stock prices up and everything else that just the idea of having something new and different there is bringing excitement to a place that didn’t have a whole lot of excitement.

Up until now over the last couple of years, they’ve been kind of floundering and losing kind of ground in terms of their, their their power in the marketplace, regardless of where you stand on the politics and everything of Twitter.

That’s the business end of things. So we all a lot of us already know that’s occurring. But the largest person to get kicked off of Twitter largest well known and I say largest in terms of how well known they are, would be the illustrious Donald Trump, while still president was removed from Twitter during the same day, week, I can’t remember it was a very short period of time when he was kicked off multiple platforms across the board.

And so Twitter was one of the big ones because Trump used it so often. So with that happening, after being out of office, he went out and began his own social media platform, which is still trying to get up and going cold truth social.

Here’s the problem with truth social right now truth social, they had, they had kind of a limited availability a waiting list to be able to get in, they were still kind of doing beta testing for a while that kind of opened that up, at least from what I can see.

Because I have gone in there and signed up just to be able to see what’s going on when you’re reporting on social media, you got to be able to do these type of things. So I am over on truth, social as Brian J. Pombo is, once again, this isn’t a political statement or anything having to do with politics.

I like to be on the inside and be able to see what’s going on with these different businesses to be able to talk about them, especially when it comes to social media and content marketing.

You got to look at everything regardless of political implications.

You know, I stuck with Twitter, after a whole lot of the political stuff going down there.

I’ve stuck with Facebook and a lot of these things that have become controversial. And now I’m going into this one which is also very controversial, but I just want to clear the air on that one.

So what’s happening there?

What’s happening is they’re only avail audible at least currently, they’re only available on an Apple Store.

That means Apple mobile products are the only ones able to get true social right now, through social has a very similar platform to Twitter, it has a it has a few more options, it looks like it has a few, a few things that helped balance it out a little bit in terms of keeping robots off of it, and so forth.

But besides that, it’s very similar, very similar to Twitter in terms of a social media platform. Now, you also have that one of the issues with it, though, it not only is it not available on Android, it’s also not available as a desktop platform.

So you can’t just go to their website as you can with Twitter, and Facebook, and so forth, which all started as desktop platforms previous to mobile.

You can access those, you can’t access truth on your laptop, or your computer, or your desktop computer or anything of that sort. So that cuts out a whole bunch of of viable audiences and so forth. It’s not that they aren’t going there.

But right now, they’re not there. And this, it’s not that there is a lack of funding, but it appears that there are they are banking on funding from a going public.

So they’re looking at taking this thing public, they already have an sp PAC setup. And, and it’s only a matter of time before that gets announced.

They will be going public, this will create the cash in influx that they probably were already counting on, to be able to grow, to be able to grow that company. So because of this, okay, if you didn’t know that part of it, a lot of people are freaked out. But Trump says he’s not going back to Twitter.

And he acts as though it has to do with the fact that they did him so wrong. Really, in reality, it would be really tough for him to go back to Twitter, when he’s trying to get his own social media off the ground, and wanting to give them at least this one chance at exclusivity.

Because currently, I’m not aware of anyone else on there that is well known. That is only on there. But he is only on there for right now. So you’ve got that going. And that is the situation between musk and Trump, Twitter, and Truth.

We will see where it lands will truth actually be able to get gain enough ground to where it can sustain itself in the long run, especially going public this early.

Is that is a smart business move?

One way or the other, they’re getting news on it, okay, which is what Trump is always after, it’s what Musk has always been really good at, is creating buzz, creating news, having a little bit of back and forth, there might be a little bit of feuding back and forth, which is great. It’s great for them in terms of getting attention, and being able to get people choosing sides and so on so forth. It’s very interesting to say almost as if, almost as if it were planned.

Now I don’t think it was planned but it has that has almost has that feel to it, you have two people that that aren’t completely against each other, that are kind of supporting two different companies in a very high profile way. S

o we’ll see where it goes. It’s lots of fun to watch but you can realize that there’s really no such thing as bad as, as bad publicity. If Trump hasn’t proved that I don’t know, when you’re when you get that much attention.

Even if it’s animosity, it’s all helpful to your overall brand. Because you bring the people who like you closer to you, and you drive away the people who don’t like you. And even in that sense, the people who don’t like you tend to stick to you also just to see what’s what happens next.

There’s tons of stories about that, but we’ll get into that another time.

Hopefully this was helpful to you that just learned a little bit about what’s going on and seeing how, how does this apply to your business?

Can you see how I’d love to hear your story?

Leave a comment wherever you’re watching or listening to this. We’ll be back tomorrow. In the meantime, get out there and let the magic happen.

Musk Invades Twitter πŸ•ŠοΈ

Brian talks about Elon Musk’s involvement in Twitter.

Musk invades Twitter.

Hi I’m Brian Pombo, welcome back to Brian J. Pombo Live.

Elon Musk has moved forward in his pursuit of acquiring Twitter, looking at kind of a hostile takeover of the company, especially since he first purchased made a large purchase of 9% of the company’s stocks, and then was looking to get on the board and then wasn’t going to be joining the board.

Then the head of this poison pill option that was put up by the current board of Twitter, and Musk now assembling a team supposedly to fully take over the company.

It’s pretty crazy, but I’m not going to talk about the ins and outs of the politics, I’m not gonna take a side one way or the other one I do want to do is focus on whether this helps Elon Musk’s brand?

Does he have anything to lose from this?

And I am going to venture to say that he doesn’t while Twitter may have something to lose, because they are in a sense, doing a lot of things that can be harmful to their company.

If that, you know the poison pill basically sets the company up for a new suicide if Musk were to take over but so so you could definitely say that there are issues there with Twitter.

That’s not what I’m concerned about. I’m concerned about Elon Musk, as the head of some major brands, you know, SpaceX, and Tesla and everything else that he’s working on.

He has made a habit of doing this year after year after year is putting himself out there in public and making a making noise about something saying something controversial about something.

In the same way that Donald Trump would use it. For really his entire career, be able to use the ability for the free press, it appears that Elon Musk can do the same thing.

So even if Elon Musk didn’t do anything with Twitter, other than just play with it a little bit here and there. Even if he did nothing of any significance with that company. The fact that he’s out there doing this and making noise and attempting it appearing like he’s attempted to do it puts him out there as a person to either love or hate as a person to take sides on.

As we’ve discussed before, if you do that, if you put yourself out there in a way that is can be controversial, where you’re doing things that are remarkable meaning people are remarking one way or the other people are talking about you, then there’s really no way to lose as long as you continue on with it, as long as you do not back off from it.

As long as you continue to have something that the public get an offering that the public can partake in, you will get more and more attention.

And that attention, even though it’s negative to a certain part of the population to the other part of the population, it’s positive, and becomes more positive, the more negative it is to one side.

Regardless of politics, when a person goes about doing this, in a sense, oftentimes called trolling, you know when it comes to getting the other person’s goat to getting attention to making a lot of noise.

Almost to the point of being a provocateur provoking a reaction from the other side, when a person does this, regardless of their political band, regardless of their nationality, regardless of anything that gender or anything else. It when a person does this, they get attention, and they move forward.

They have the ability to do more with that attention. Because if you can gain attention if you can, if you can be out there and stand out.

There’s really no way to lose in the business world or in the current world of getting being able to do what you want to do.

I mean, I don’t care if you’re even in business, if you have a nonprofit, if you have if you’re running for political office, I mean it doesn’t matter if you’re wanting to make a change in the world, it requires people to know who you are.

For people to know who you are, sometimes you got to do things that are a little outrageous, a little crazy.

Once again, I’m not defending Elon Musk, or his position on Twitter, all I’m doing is pointing out the glaringly obvious something that you should be able to take from that, and be able to use it in your own way.

Now, this doesn’t mean that you need to go out publicly, or on a national international basis, and make a lot of noise.

Sometimes you can do the same thing on a very local level, especially if that’s where you’re looking to get attention at wherever you’re looking to or miss.

Sometimes it’s in a specific industry. So everyone else may not hear the noise, but people within your industry hear the noise.

So it’s dependent on the audience you’re going after. But the same things are true no matter what, if you can do something outrageous. If you can do something provoking, thought-provoking or just provoking in general, you are going to do what you need to do to, you’re going to succeed, you’re going to succeed.

Let me just say it that way.

I talk quite a bit about this in my book, 9 Ways to Amazon-Proof Your Business. One of the ways to be somebody, and you want to go check out that book, and this is what I’ve been talking about here.

But I go through some details here. I use some examples. I didn’t use Elon Musk, but he’s a great example of somebody who is out there being somebody whether it’s purposeful or not. It’s certainly to his overall long-term benefit to be out there doing this. So interesting times we live in. Hopefully, that’s helpful.

Go get a free copy of my book at AmazonProofBook.com and I’ll be back here tomorrow night with some more conversation. In the meantime, get out there and let the magic happen.

1 Social Media Post πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡¦ (Family In Ukraine Update)

Brian shares how one Facebook post has helped make a huge difference for his wife’s family that is fleeing from Kyiv.

1 social media post.

Hi I’m Brian Pombo, welcome back to Brian J. Pombo Live.

Today I wanted to discuss this is a story I’ve been telling a lot of my other friends. And so I figured I’d tell all my online friends. I glad you could come.

We’ve had the situation, right now this is, depending on when you’re watching or listening to this, this is in March, early March of 2022. We’ve been going through this situation of Russia invading Ukraine.

If you haven’t heard my wife was originally from Ukraine, she came over as a teenager with her mother, and to the United States ended up becoming a citizen here.

Her aunt, uncle, grandmother, and cousin are still back in Ukraine. They were in a situation where they were stuck in the capital city. And we’re looking to get out as soon as the invasion was occurring, but really didn’t know where to go, what to do, how to do it.

So my wife went and posted on Facebook, and basically said, Hey, does anybody know anyone in the surrounding countries that might be able to help out if we’re able to get them across the border.

We had people reach out all over the place, everybody. I mean, people we hadn’t talked to in years and other people. People that knew people that knew people.

People sent email addresses and phone numbers.

It really overwhelmed my wife, who’s good at logistics, by the way. So she kind of took it on herself to help them find somebody. We found a handful of different people so far.

So once they were able to get to Moldova, we had someone there to be able to pick them up and drive them to that capital city.

They’re there right now waiting to go to Germany.

they have somebody also, who was going to drive them all that distance and help get them to a safe area. What’s amazing is it took that, you know, besides the human element, and all the craziness and the politics and all the rest.

It took one single organic post on Facebook, we didn’t have advertising behind it.

We were discussing, if you look at it from a marketing perspective, she was discussing a an event that everyone knows about, that everyone’s thinking about, and just gave people a very clear-cut, call to action.

Because of that, it was easy for people who already had that connection to offer it up. I mean, people went out of their way. It’s not that it wasn’t difficult for them to be able to call people up and say hey, are you willing to house people?

Do you know anyone that’s housing anyone?

Do you know anyone who can drive?

It’s not that that wasn’t the case. That was the case that was amazing, incredible what they’ve done. We’ll post on my personal page, you know, eventually, all the different people that reached out and helped out. We appreciate it more than you can ever know.

But what it’s the connections, the thin threads that we have with all the people that we’ve known throughout our life, that becomes power.

That’s the power of social media.

It’s not unto itself, anything all that powerful, except that so many people have already gathered in these places.

But it’s powerful because of the human connection that exists outside of it. And it translates into how we have a connection that we wouldn’t have had 20, 30 years ago would not have had that type of ability to mobilize people in such a short period of time. Incredible, incredible thing.

You can just about write a book about all the things we’ve been through through the last couple of weeks, working with her family and other people. So just a quick idea for you for tonight. We’ll be back tomorrow.

Go check out my book, 9 Ways to Amazon-Proof Your Business. Get a free copy at AmazonProofBook.com.

We’ll see you have a good one get out there and let the magic happen.

Email and Social Media Writing Tip ✍️

Brian talks about a tip on writing he learned from Gary Halbert’s teachings.

Email and social media writing tip.

Hi I’m Brian Pombo, welcome back to Brian J. Pombo Live.

Got a real quick one for you today.

I’m kind of at a distance here. I’m out in Seaside Oregon, just visiting, I’ve never been up to the northern Oregon coast.

So we’re kind of doing a little expedition, a quick expedition while we’re out of town and having some fun.

It’s been a lot of fun so far got the whole family with me. I want to talk about this is a tip you can use I mean, I specifically am saying email and social media. This could be used across the board, anywhere that you’re doing writing.

So this includes even if you’re writing for physical literature that you know, a book or anything else.

Here’s a huge recommendation that I think I first heard from Gary Halbert, and I’ve heard multiple people say it says that I’ve heard a lot of people attributed their use of this technique also.

Back to Gary Halbert.

Gary Halbert was a very amazing marketer and copywriter who passed away years back, but some of his ideas are so simple, yet so brilliant.

I’m surprised more people don’t take advantage of ideas just like this one.

I’m going to share it with you. Okay, so it’s so easy.

Since I was a kid, I always tried to learn the rules of grammar. And one of the rules that I never had anyone seriously layout for me is, at what point do you separate paragraphs?

So silly idea, really, it’s an extremely subjective thing. And maybe there is an official definition of what should separate paragraphs and I’ve heard people say, if you have quotes, and you have people talking to each other, then every time that they talk, that needs to be separate every time someone else says something that needs to be a separate paragraph to be able to break up the different people talking.

That is one of the only things I’ve ever heard about official things. When it comes to English, American English grammar, in the separation with paragraphs, except for this thing that Gary Halbert said.

Gary Halbert, very simply said, and I’m putting in my own words, I don’t have the Gary Halbert letter or whatever it was where I officially heard it or read it.

But he basically said, separate everything into as many paragraphs as possible, and break it up. It keeps people reading along. It pulls everything together, it doesn’t mean you take every single sentence and make a separate paragraph.

But you’d almost be better off doing that. Right?

It really means keeping your paragraphs as small as possible and keeping that process going.

If you ever try this, if you ever see this done, go and take something that you’ve written that are in larger paragraphs, and then break it up a little bit, print both of them out or put them side by side.

You ask anybody which looks like more fun to read, which looks like an easier read, which do they want to read first, they will always choose the one with the small paragraphs, even though it extends out. It makes the whole idea longer.

The fact that you have that it really does make a huge difference. It makes readability. Readability increases a lot.

Just by doing that one simple thing. It’s really helpful on on social media posts, especially if you’re writing something long, and you’re trying to get an idea out there.

Go and look at all the social media posts that you go through and start paying attention.

How long are their paragraphs, and the ones you enjoy reading the most they have shorter paragraphs, even if the if the subject matter is that great, it feels like it’s going somewhere.

They always say this thing about books too.

You can break up your books into chapters that are shorter. People enjoy it more because they feel like they’re getting progress.

They feel like they’re going somewhere with it. Whereas if you if you extend out these huge, long chapters, a lot of people will fall away and not finish reading the book. So it’s very interesting about the psychology of reading.

It’s one of those things about copywriting and so forth that you really ought to follow whether you’re whether you do any type of written advertising at all whatsoever it doesn’t matter if you’re trying to convey a point on to somebody shorten up your paragraphs, simple idea that can make a big difference.

I tried this in my book, I don’t know if I succeeded my latest book. 9 Ways to Amazon-Proof Your Business you can get you can go check it out for me. Tell me if you think I succeeded, 9 Ways to Amazon-Proof Your Business you’d go buy yourself a copy or you can get a download a free copy at my website AmazonProofBook.com.

AmazonProofBook.com. Will take you straight there. You have a good one.

We’ll be back tomorrow.

In the meantime, get out there and let the magic happen.
