Excitement Can Be Dangerous 🙃

Why it’s important to be mindful of highs and lows in life.

Excitement can be dangerous.

I’m Brian Pombo, welcome back to Brian J Pombo Live.

I want to talk a little bit about excitement, that’s a mental state that we’re all prone to get into from time to time. We tend to think about the positive sides of getting excited.

In fact, the word itself, we get excited, you know, get pumped, get amped, you know, it’s, it has very positive connotations to it in general, most people don’t look at the dark side of getting excited.

I’ve got two quick stories for you today.

The first story is about my oldest son, who is prone to get excited on occasion. And when he gets excited, his whole body lights up. And so that’s why everybody knows everyone gets excited.

But you could, you could tell and he always lets it go a bit too far, you know, where he’s just not in control of himself when he’s in that frame where he’s just almost manic.

Sure enough, so I wasn’t home for this, but he was in one of these states. And was playing around with his sister threw a metal pot, of play pot, but threw it straight in her head, without thinking, and he was shocked that she got hurt by it and everything else. And he got in trouble and all that.

But we had a talk about it afterward about you know, and we have this talk on occasion, you gotta watch getting too excited.

A lot of people get, especially, so I’m filming this in 2021 in December. So we’re coming up on the Christmas season, you know, all the Christmas decorations are going up and everything.

People get excited about Christmas, kids get excited.

And parents tend to play into getting kids excited about getting presents and all this other stuff. It always comes with a low, you know, you always end up hitting rock bottom after you get too high over something.

I think it’s something you watch for yourself and watch for your kids and your family in the business. Because this is a business of podcasts.

In business, you got to watch it for yourself that you don’t get too excited about the good times, you don’t get too wound up.

You always end up doing something stupid when you’re excited. That’s the real problem. And I’m saying we all end up doing stupid things when we get too amped up and too excited.

If we don’t do stupid things, then we will after we crash off the excitement because you know, you get all the hormones and things go into your brain and get you all worked up and feeling good.

Well, that feel-good always has a crash to it.

It doesn’t take drugs, it just takes a state of mind that’s imbalanced. And you just got to watch him balance whether it’s too high or too low imbalances in balance.

It’s one of the things that, you know, I have to watch with myself. And I also have to keep an eye on with the people around me and point out once in a while.

There’s a great example I that on the other end of things. Okay, on the other end of excitement, for some reason.

Two days ago, I woke up not feeling hot and the day just didn’t go well.

Mostly I had jitters I had I don’t know if I was sick, or if it was just my state of mind or what it was. But it think it was just one of those days where things just don’t work, you know, that nothing seems to work.

I tried to steer clear from scenarios where it might affect my future. If I got in a conversation with somebody that I shouldn’t have and everything else, I had to really watch myself and be careful.

Then the opposite of being too high isn’t too low, the real opposite of being too high as being in the middle. It’s being calm today. In as to the opposite of that I’ve been calm all day I woke up in a decent frame of mind and I’ve just had a really decent frame of mind all day long and everything that looked like it was going to be trouble was in trouble.

Everything that anything that I thought may have been a problem. I had just enough time to be able to come up against it and handle it the right way.

That’s the best way to do this when I have a good day I wish old days could be good days, right?

But a whole lot of it came down to that and deal with my son I saw a whole lot of it comes from not getting too excited. If you can just watch that, especially during this season but any any time of the year.

You keep that kind of middle ground.

Yeah, it’s big right now online, social media and so forth. Ryan Holiday and all these people promote stoicism and I really appreciate the concept of really keep an even keel. And so that’s a little thought for me to you tonight.

Spiritually Stuck

Value of getting out and helping others.

Spiritually stuck.

Hi I’m Brian Pombo, welcome back to Brian J. Pombo Live.

Unlike a lot of my more upbeat posts, this one is good, it’s gonna be a little bit of a downer but I’ll give you a bright side to it.

And it’s one of those titles I don’t expect to get a whole lot of play off of, it’s not something that people are searching for, that I’ve been able to find. But I couldn’t quite put it in any other way. This isn’t my story. This is a story of a new friend that I made.

Today, I was talking with a gentleman, older in age. But it was very clear that he was, I guess, I don’t know of a better way of saying it a spiritual crisis, in the sense that he was stuck.

He was stuck in this place of repeating these horrible scenarios from his life.

He was horribly traumatized as a child by his father specifically. It’s something that continued throughout life, where everybody just seemed to use him as their punching bag. And if you attract that, you know, after a while, it’s not your fault, but you end up becoming responsible for attracting abuse and bringing it into your life because that’s just what you’re used to doing.

You allow it to happen to you.

It’s impossible not to, especially when you’re young, you don’t know how else to handle it in when you’re traumatized.

It’s just something that keeps repeating over and over again, until you learn how to handle things properly.

I guess you would say, change the ending of the story. So I’m not sure if this is going to mean much to you, if you feel like you’re in a position similar to my friend, where you’re just not quite sure what to do next, you know, you have solutions in front of you.

You don’t even know how to really apply them properly.

You feel like, there’s no hope it seems to work for everybody else, but not for me type of thing. I’ll tell you what really hit me hard while talking with this person, and hit me hard because it was a new phenomena but something that I’ve discussed here before.

What hit me hard is when I asked him, What are you doing on a daily basis?

What do you what are you doing in life?

And I asked the question, because I was afraid of what the answer was. And I was right. Because what the answer was nothing.

This person did not have much of a life he did not get out there. Especially one of the things I found with people that are stuck in their own heads, and stuck in these paradigms is they don’t interact with other people, they find a way to close themselves off from society.

They don’t have close family or close friends that they can trust in or that they can help really honestly, it’s this huge selfishness that can follow you.

I’m not saying about you. But this can happen. I’ve seen it way too often. Where there’s a selfishness that you’re so stuck in your own head and your own problems, that you can’t help other people with their issues. A

nd I’m telling you, you can help other people, even if you’re a horribly damaged person, there’s still things you can do to help other people but you’ve got to be around people to begin with.

You have to learn how to deal with people and not resent them, or judge them for all of their issues.

If you can do that you can find a way to help people even though you still need help yourself. It’s not a way of saving yourself, but it’s a way of gaining perspective. It’s a way of practicing something and it’s the way that I’ve been able through my life to build a better life for myself if if I could say that it’s me building it.

But it for me to find my path, for me to find what I needed to do in life it took going out and taking the focus off of me, and putting it on other people and helping people that want help in taking them the next step in the process and through that whole mess, I find out more about me, I find out my faults, and I find out how to fix them.

I don’t know how else to do it other than that, and I told that I told this gentleman that, and I’m not sure if he heard me. But you have to go out and live life, you have to go out and put yourself out there in front of people, you have to go out and find problems to solve.

And you have to find people to help.

You have to go out and live the adventure. Because it’s out there waiting for you. If, if you’re able to imagine it, it’s there.

If you think that it might be for you, you got to go out there and find it, you got to find the challenge. You’ve got to get out there and move because if you stay all holed up in your home or on the street, or wherever you are, and you stay closed up in your brain, you’re not going to find what you want there.

There’s a lot of great things that come from the inside but I found in life that the outside oftentimes have to pull out the best out of you from the inside. That makes sense.

Kind of a deeper concept today, I don’t know if any of this makes sense to you please just leave a comment. If it does.

Anything it would, it would brighten my day. But also let me know if any of this sounds like you, I’d love to love to talk with you more about it.

Because if you could see it if you could see this about you or if you could see this about other people and you cannot you can keep from holding it against them, then your life can get better.

And hopefully you can help other people by discovering just these simple concepts that make a big difference. That’s all I got for tonight.

Hey, go check out my book. I’m always promoting it on this show is just one of the things I’ve got to I’ve got to make some type of promotion to make this all worthwhile. I’ve got a book on business strategy.

Intuitive Business Building 🧐

Brian shares a personal story that happened today and how keeping your emotions in check can help you solve problems.

Intuitive business building.

Hi I’m Brian Pombo, welcome back to Brian J. Pombo Live.

Let’s talk about intuitive business building, shall we. I’ve got a story that has nothing to do with business. But it proves a point better than even the business story I had for today.

So I had a I had a really great interview this morning, and I can’t wait for it to come out just more than anything, not for what I said in it but what the host that I was with, it was so cool getting to meet him. Finally face to face, we had chatted a little bit back and forth over social media and the admirers from a distance of each other’s work. And I really am excited to see what he ends up doing with his company as he moves ahead, can’t wait to see more about that.

And I’ll tell you more about that in the future. So stay tuned.

But I want to talk with you about something that happened later in the afternoon we had a situation. I’ve got one of these things where we have certain days of the week that are left a little wide open in the schedule, so that we can fit in little odds and ends of our lifestyle. And Fridays is one of those days in general. Sometimes it’s packed in tight, but other times, we leave it a little bit loose just to fit in all the things that we need to do during the day.

I had a situation that I wasn’t planning on where I needed to go get a couple of tanks of gasoline, we get this. So in Oregon, they add all the extra stuff to your gasoline. And it’s not good for yard tools and so forth.

So I had to go get some of the gasoline that had no additives in it for the yard stuff. And just in case we get in a situation where the electricity goes out, which tends to happen toward the beginning of fall winter, when the rain starts coming in the electrical grid for some reason can’t handle it or they use it as an excuse to shut things down.

But we get into a situation where we have no electricity, so you got to have the generator going. So you got to get go get gasoline, so I go in with my empty containers to go get gasoline and it’s not that far up the road, it’s probably three miles up the road to this gas station. And so I was no big deal.

I tossed my shoes on, I didn’t even put real shoes on, I’ve got these stupid rubber crock things. And so I had those on, I wasn’t even planning to wear those there. But I just I’ve just it’s just a quick thing, it wasn’t meant to take that long. I go to the gas station, I park. It’s an odd situation because it’s away from the other gas tanks and so forth.

So it’s a different area and I get out of the car and I’m like okay, now I got to go around and open up the other door to pull the tanks out.

So I unlocked the other door, make sure that happens. I set everything down, I go over to the other side. Instead of pushing unlock on the car, I pushed lock on the car, and my keys got locked in, but not just my keys, my phone got locked in, everything got locked in. And I just realized that, you know, since my wife had her phone number change, I never memorized it. I never wrote it down. So I don’t even know how to get ahold of my wife and this wasn’t supposed to take long.

This was supposed to be a quick since scenario. And so it was one of those things where when we’re a ways out in the country, so I’m like, Okay, if I called if I call a locksmith open up the car, that might take a while. I bet I could just walk back home and a three mile walk and take a while. Especially you’re walking around rubber crocs or whatever. And so I go to the gas station attendant and I tell him I’m an idiot, I locked my car keys in my car. Do you mind if I just sits where it’s at because I can’t move?

I said I live up the road. I’m just gonna go get the other set of keys.

Yeah, no problem.

For some reason, in my mind, I was calm about it. And if you could remain calm, you can tap into the intuitive forces that we all have the ability to, and that’s just there’s something, whatever you want to call it, there’s something that speaks to us that shows us the right direction.

And if you get panicked or resentful, or thrown off at all emotionally, it blocks that and you tend to make stupid mistakes and stupid decisions.

Now in retrospect, there’s a couple of the things I probably could have done. But something told me without in words, it’s just just start walking, just start walking, your wife will know which way you came. If things last too long, she’ll come looking for you. It’s no big deal.

So I just started walking. And it was, we got a situation where it’s threatening to rain and everything else, but I got a jacket on, it’s okay, I’m just gonna start walking. I don’t know that many people in the neighborhood either, but for some reason, I felt like someone’s going to come by that knows me and they’re going to stop.

I had no reason to believe that because really, my wife knows a whole lot more people than I do.

I’m not the person that’s out talking to everyone, all the neighbors all the time. And we have a lot of distance between us out here.

I didn’t really think about I just walked and kept walking kept walking people would pass by it’s a it’s a somewhat of a narrow road, narrow country road. So I’m trying to stay out of everyone’s way.

Pretty soon one of the vehicles that passed me, it was a large pickup truck with a with a trailer on it came back the opposite direction and slow down.

Do you need a ride back to your house?

Sure enough, it’s one of our neighbors, friends, kind of friends of the family, they have kids that are our kids age, and everything else.

I don’t know them that well, but they recognize me and they were headed out to town, but instead stopped, turned around and took me all the way back to my house, saving me all that time and everything.

There’s no reason why any of that should have happened. But if I wasn’t calm, I wouldn’t have done what needed to happen.

And it was great because we actually get to talk a little bit back and forth. They not only took me to go get my keys, but then drop me back off at the gas station.

And the whole thing happened a lot quicker than it should have. I got to chat with some folks that I haven’t got to chat with for a while, everything worked out.

Businesses the same way.

I like pulling ideas outside of the business world stories and concepts because then you can you can apply it back to your business.

There’s always situations that seem dire, that they always happen at the wrong time.

Always seems like everything’s falling down all around you and you just have to remain calm, move ahead with what you got. Even if it’s a decision that you’re not sure if it’s the right decision or not. You just move ahead in a calm frame of mind, you’ll end up doing the right thing accidentally and it’ll end up leading to something bigger.

And you never know you never know where where these things end up.

You never know how these things all fold together in the big picture of things. So I don’t know if that means anything to you.

It’s a reminder to me, and I like to I like to put these things back out there.

If it’s helpful to someone else, great. If not, I like to hear myself say some of these things to remind myself that it is not bad to go in the right direction as long as you as long as you keep calm without it. Everything works out.

Hopefully that makes sense.

Hey go check out my book, 9 Ways to Amazon-Proof Your Business.

I had another discussion today. Like I said earlier in the day, and we were talking about this book. And this book has gotten a whole lot of misunderstanding because of the title. Bad it I should have titled it something slightly different.

It gives off the impression that it has a whole lot to do with Amazon as a company. And it really doesn’t it has to do with the fact that Amazon is this large beast of a company. That is everybody’s competition.

And it’s kind of the face of competitive forces out there. And I’m trying to say through this book, you don’t have to be scared of Amazon. You need to defeat them.

Were in a game, you need to defeat them in a game that they can’t play. And it’s a way of defusing any type of competition especially when you’re dealing with big guys like Amazon.com go check it out.

Customer Research Methods 📚 (10 Smart Market Diagnosis & Profiling Questions)

Brian chats about Dan Kennedy’s checklist, The 10 Smart Market Diagnosis and Profiling Questions from his classic book The Ultimate Sales Letter.

Transcription

Customer research methods.

Hi I’m Brian Pombo, welcome back to Brian J. Pombo Live.

I wanted to talk a little bit of a piece out of this book and it’s really good for research.

Sometimes it gets tough in the very beginning, especially when you’re getting into advertising, and you’re wanting to learn more about your customers. And that’s really the beginning of the good direct response advertising is really knowing about but who, really know about who you’re trying to reach, and making that kind of your primary start.

If you’ve at least got that in your mind, you’re on a good track and sometimes if you start there, it’s like, Okay, well, what do I need to know about him?

I mean, there’s a million things, you got your demographics, and psychographics, and all these different things.

Well, this is a great checklist from Dan Kennedy’s book, the Ultimate Sales Letter, I think this checklist is in a couple of other formats floating around out there also but this is a good book to begin with.

I mean, this isn’t a complete review of this book but it’s an awesome book. It’s not just about sales letters, it’s about communicating a thorough message when you’re trying to sell something to anyone in any way, especially online, where you have actually sales letters printed on pages. On websites, you’ve got video sales letters, in a sense, you have audio coming through and podcasts and other formats.

There are a million ways to be able to sell people now more so than ever before. And it all really originated with mailers, and direct mail, and, and advertising that way and through magazines and newspapers.

It’s moved to today, but at the same time, the same things are true. And so when we’re looking to find out more about potential customers, we’re wanting to do research and really find out what they’re all about so that we can communicate properly to them, and be able to speak their language, then this is a great way of going about doing that this is from chapter one.

It’s the first step in his process of creating a good sales letter, and specifically a good sales message.

He says step one, get into the customer.

And he has this list. It’s called the 10 Smart Market Diagnosis and Profiling Questions.

Okay, so there’s 10 of these, let’s go through them real quick, shall we?

Number one, what keeps them awake at night, indigestion boiling up their esophagus, eyes open, staring at the ceiling?

And what keeps them awake at night is all bolded. It’s what really has your customer on edge, you got to at least know that whether it has anything to do with your product or not, you got to know where they’re coming from.

In general, once again, a whole lot of this is guessing unless you already have a customer, or unless you are already familiar enough with the market unless you know them personally. And you could base this off of one person to begin with if you needed to.

Number two, What are they afraid of?

There’s a very common thread throughout all of this. We’ll hit on that at the very end.

Number three, and then once again, that could be number one. Number two could be the same thing, right? It all depends.

Number three, What are they angry about? Who are they angry at?

That’s number three.

Number four, What are their top three daily frustrations?

Real similar trend throughout this whole thing, but you might be able to pick something up. And you may not have an answer all these questions, but you may be able to pick something up off of one or two or three of these questions.

Number five, What trends are occurring and will occur in their businesses or lives?

Number six, What do they secretly ardently desire most?

Number seven, Is their built-in bias to the way they make decisions? Is there a built-in bias to the way they make decisions?

Okay, for example, engineers are exceptionally analytical. So that’s kind of their bias is in a very heavy analytical side. So is that true of your market also?

Number eight, Do they have their own language?

More than likely they do depending on how defined you have your market down to if it’s a specific career choice if it’s a specific religious sect if it’s, you know, whatever it is that makes your people unique.

What is that language and they’re not just talking English versus German versus whatever, that’s not the type of language that Dan Kennedy is talking about is do they have certain terminology and everything else that other people may not even understand if you brought it up, it’s very important to know.

Number nine, Who else is selling something similar to their product and how?

So to your product, you know, is something is someone selling something similar and how are they doing it?

It’s a tough question, but it’s something you really need to know.

And number 10, Who else has tried selling them something similar and how has that effort failed?

Not that easy to find out. But if you really know the market, well, you may already have that answer. Or it may have been you maybe you’ve already failed at trying to sell something similar up until now. But those are very, very, very important questions.

Those are the 10 Smart market diagnosis and profiling questions when it comes to your market when it comes to your potential customer or client. Very important stuff.

That what’s the common trend. The common trend throughout almost every single one of those answers is emotion.

Okay, we’re focusing very, very deeply on the emotion that runs through your marketplace.

What are they feeling?

What are they angry about?

Where what gets them going?

What are they excited about?

These are all emotional ideas and emotions. You know, we are not our emotions as people but quite often we let our emotions drive us.

And especially when it comes to purchasing when it comes to separating from our money. A whole lot of that is an emotional process. In most cases, it was one of the things I fought a lot.

When I first started getting into the marketing arena, they kept saying that I’m like, Yeah, but it shouldn’t be that way. You know, people should be more logical about this type of thing.

I’m more logical, why can’t everyone be more logical, and you can’t get caught up with the way things should be. You have to focus when you’re coming out from a scientific perspective.

The whole Claude Hopkins, you know, Scientific Advertising, you come out from a scientific perspective, you have to look at the way things are, and not the way you want them to be.

And the plain fact of the matter is, you go out there and try enough times you’re going to find, you’re going to get a motion back over and over and over again, as the main reason why people do things.

And if you ignore that, you do it at your own peril. You’re gonna have a really tough time getting anyone anywhere, and getting anyone excited about what you’re doing.

If you don’t, at least acknowledge that that’s where they’re coming from. Now you can help redirect them and help help people to think better if you want, but you have to meet them where they’re at. And where most people are at is in an emotional state.

Especially if they’re going to be purchasing anything from yourself.

Hopefully that’s helpful. Like I said, great book.

I’ve got my own book, 9 Ways to Amazon-Proof Your Business. Just one book so far, but this is a good one. Go check it out small lots more than this one.

Secret Power of Emotional Neutrality

Why keeping your cool pays off in so many ways.

The secret power of emotional neutrality.

Hi I’m Brian Pombo, welcome back to Brian J. Pombo Live.

I’m going to be talking about something that I just spoke about a few minutes ago, and had quite a long discussion.

It’s called Brian J. Pombo Live, but by the time you’re seeing this, it’s probably not live, there’s probably a recording. And our last recording, which I gave a great impassioned talk did not get recorded.

But it plays into tonight’s topic, okay, emotional neutrality, I talk about being neutral being not one too far, one way or too far another, I’m gonna get into that in a second.

But first I want to let you know I have a book, if you haven’t read it yet, you gotta go get a copy. It’s called, 9 Ways to Amazon-Proof Your Business.

And it’s specifically for business owners and executives, people that are in charge, and are able to steer the strategy of their businesses, go check it out, get a free copy at AmazonProofBook.com. Or you can get one wherever books are sold, including Amazon.com themselves.

So let’s talk about emotional neutrality. Now, this comes back to one of the three pillars of my business.

I’m a business strategist, I help business owners and executives to be able to overcome obstacles and so forth. And one of the big things that I bring people back to is something that I call being reality grounded.

This is one of the three pillars, and it is probably the most important one.

Because if you’re a reality grounded, you’re not caught up in the emotions, and all the details of the day, you can step back and be able to see things clearly, at least eventually ends. But sometimes you get caught up. Sometimes there’s a situation to where you’re being tempted tend to be emotional about something.

I’m going to give you a situation that I ran into today. So in addition to writing a number of businesses, my wife has been writing a business since before we were married, which a property management business. And we had some tenants today, who had a plumbing issue that needed to be fixed.

And the plumber, who would normally handled this is not available until tomorrow, it’s Super Bowl Sunday, they’re probably going to have some people over at their house, they’re really big football fans. I knew I needed to get in there and see what I can do see if I can at least try to fix it turns out all that was needed was a faucet need to be switched out.

And so when in there, went bought a new faucet, started taking it apart, and was having the toughest time figuring out how to get the mounting bolt off this thing, just with where it was situated, and everything else could not wrap my mind around how to do it, and how it was installed.

Because I know who installed it and tried to, I just could not figure it out. And all these different scenarios start running through my head, oh, yeah, you’re gonna get them upset, or you know, the owner is going to get upset or this or that, you know, I’m gonna have to go back, my wife’s gonna be upset.

All these different silly things that pop in your head at the time that seemed more important than they actually were. But I was able to pull back from the emotions and just go, you know, because you got the voice in your head and says something like, you know, this is going to happen and then this is going to happen, this is going to happen.

And then if you get emotional, you think you only have two options. You either agree with the voice, or he could fight the voice.

But there’s a third option.

And the third option is what I talked about being neutral, neither one way nor another. If you just step back and have the attitude…don’t argue with it, don’t talk to it. But the attitude of well, maybe yes, maybe no. Just be neutral.

You don’t know what’s going to happen. You don’t know what the situation is. You don’t know really where it’s gonna go. And you just go, maybe yes, maybe no, I don’t know we’ll see.

And if you have that attitude, and not get caught up in trying to control and fix with the wrong energy, everything works out and everything did I calm down about it?

The situation was actually really simple to fix. There was a there was a tool that came with the new faucet that allowed me to undo the thing and it all worked out fine. It wasn’t that big of a deal.

But in the moment, you know when you’re in that moment, and something seems not right. It seems like the whole world’s coming crashing down or something stupid and sometimes it is a big deal, but you still have to have the same clear way of thinking about it.

You’ve got to be able to back up and say, maybe yes, maybe no, and be emotionally neutral. If you can do that, I think you’ll find amazing things will happen in your life.

I know it has for me ever since I learned how to do it. And it’s a it’s a great trick and a fabulous principle to understand when it comes to being reality grounded. Hopefully that makes sense to you. I got more tips, principles, strategies and tactics to help you out. We come back here every night we pull one out and dig, dig it out and talk about it. And also you can find it in my book. Like I said, AmazonProofBook.com we’ll be back here tomorrow night. In the meantime, get out there and let the magic happen.

Feel painted into a corner?

Hi, I’m Brian Pombo welcome back to Brian J. Pombo Live. Today I wanted to bring up the third tier of what we consider the three tiers of BrianJPombo.com and just for review.

What we’ve been talking up until now is being Relationship Reliant and System Based.

The third one is, Reality Grounded.

Oftentimes we find ourselves painted into a corner because we set ourselves up that way to expect a certain result. If you do that, if you get caught up with your goals or get caught up with where you think things are going, you don’t allow flexibility to be able to move forward. I’ll give you an example.

This was a situation with one of my clients where we had discussed what the possibilities were going forward in the future. And when we had a meeting, it became clear, as everything started being laid out, that we were going to have to change slightly and go a slightly different direction.

It wasn’t a big move. In fact, it was original move that was planned that we had moved back to, or at least that was my suggestion, is that we moved back to this original plan.

Now, it would have been real easy to say, well wait, why are we doing that?

I thought we were going in this direction. Now we’re going in this direction. And there was some confusion there after we sat back and looked at it though I said, if you look at the big picture of things, we made the necessary changes, but that also made the original plan more of the the thing that we ought to do.

It made sense, at least from my limited perspective it made sense and that’s what I was recommending.

It’s real easy to get caught up with going in a particular direction and not wanting to pivot, but that flexibility, how do you build that flexibility?

One’s experience is going through enough situations to where you know you have to be flexible or you’ll break.

The main thing that I see that keeps people from being flexible in business is being too emotional. Getting emotionally invested in a particular outcome and that is being anti reality.

If you’re getting caught up with doing things a certain way, there is an emotional comfort zone that we paint ourselves into. It’s painting ourselves into a corner and you don’t quite know your way out of it.

How do you get away from that?

How do you get back to reality?

It’s about stepping back away from your emotional state, noticing that you’re in it, noticing that you’re reacting to something and just stepping back and taking a deep breath and saying, okay, what’s the reality of the situation?

What are we actually looking at?

What am I reacting to?

When you do that, you take that little brief moment to step back and take a look at the big picture. Everything tends to clear up.

Sometimes it means getting up and taking a walk. Sometimes it means, you know, getting a little bit of movement going and getting the blood flow into your brain.

But it all comes back on the inside. Step away from your emotions and come back to reality.

That’s why I talk about being Reality Grounded.

That is really the long-term concept that you want in your business. Reality grounding and then even if you aren’t in the reality state, if you fall into an emotional craziness, you want to make sure that the people that are around you can kinda hold you back and go, Whoa, Whoa, Whoa. Just wait. Take a deep breath.

If you’ve got people like that around you, then you’ll be able to do the same thing when they’re in that state and we can all balance each other out.

It’s very helpful to have people in your team like that if you like to know whether you are paying the most attention to reality or not, then I suggest bringing people onto your team that help you out with that.

I’m one of those people that you can hire out to be able to work with you on a weekly basis.

What Does Stress Say About Your Business?

http://DreamBizChat.com

What does stress say about your business?

Hi, I’m Brian Pombo, welcome back to Brian J. Pombo Live. Today’s a quick one just about the concept of stress.

This came to me while watching some people handle the stress within their own business today and also I saw a video online where a fellow was talking about how when he started to learn how to relax in business, everything got better.

So what does the stress say about you and your business?

It really says is that you’re not handling things right, and I’m not talking about stress. If you’re thinking like friction, because friction is a natural thing, you know, even a little bit of uncomfortably, that type of friction is necessary.

It’s absolute, it’s guaranteed to happen. You’re going to be uncomfortable in business and it’s a good thing.

What I’m talking about is the emotional stress is the times when you just aren’t handling things properly. And when you don’t handle things properly, you take it home with you.

If you’re lucky enough to have a home. If you have a family at home or what have you, and if you don’t have anyone at home, then you don’t have anyone to take it out on. You can never escape it and it’s mainly because you just aren’t handling things right.

It’s not about the circumstances of your business that’s pulling you down. The circumstances are easy thing to blame. It’s how you’re handling the circumstances and your difficulty in order in enabled that’s getting in the way of you growing your business comes back to that stress.

If you can’t handle the stress right, you’re not going to be able to see opportunity when it comes along.

You’re not going to be able to fix things when they need fixing. It’s all something to think about.

How do you go about handling stress properly?

How I’ve learned how to do it is just backing away from the emotional end of it. If you can back away from an emotional reaction of it and just let it ride and watch it, whatever’s bothering you, watch whatever’s tempting you to be bothered.

If you can just be a little bit separate from it and just watch it from a little bit of a distance, you’ll figure out how to get past it.

Just like you have every other time.

If you pull back far enough, you’ll realize you’ve always had these things. There’s always been something in your way.

There’s always one of these things that’s insurmountable that you can’t get. Imagine you’ll ever get past.

You will get past it one way or the other. You will get past it, but getting stressed about it is going to ruin your health.

It’s going to ruin all the relationships with the people around you and it’s going to make the whole process a whole lot more difficult. Learn how to deal with your stress and you’re going to figure out all those little details in your business that’ll make things better.

I know from experience when I learned well through time, as I’ve learned more and more and more about how to handle stress better, my business has gotten better and the whole path in front of me gets a lot more clearer and hopefully that’s helpful to you.

It’s just a simple, simple concept.

Certainly not something you haven’t heard before, but maybe a nice little reminder during this holiday season because things get kind of tight going into the holidays when everyone’s just trying to push through and get everything done at the last minute.

Something to keep in mind.

If you are a business owner or an executive and you’re in the self-reliance field, meaning you’ve got products and services that help people to become more self reliant, I’d love for you to watch a video.
