Product review My Pillow Giza Dream Sheets. Hi I’m Brian Pombo, welcome back to Brian J. Pombo Live.

Now, I’m not endorsing anything that Mike Lindell does, says, or sells. I’m here to talk specifically about how he does it, and how you can learn from it one way or another.

It’s a very interesting process that he uses. One, that he is only used up until the last handful of years when he started getting political is the idea, of sending people off by being political.

So he’s an extremely controversial figure out today. But I want to tell you, I’m not here to endorse his politics, or to denounce his politics. I want to talk about how that affects his sales.

Now, I guarantee you one thing is true. The people that like Mike Lindell and his MyPillow brand, only like him more because of his political outspokenness, it’s not that he didn’t turn people off. I’m sure he turned a certain amount of people off, but now it’s become part of his brand.

Now his support of Trump and this and that it’s all part of his brand. This is a guy that started from nothing, he was selling these pillows, at county fairs and so forth.

From my understanding, you know, you buy a booth and you just sit there and tell his story. And you talk about the bottom-up celebrity concept.

This is what he did.

He made himself into a celebrity whether he knew what he was doing or not. He has done it and he has created something that anybody can study. And you can use it one way or the other.

Now I’m not saying you got to go out there and be political, but at the same end, I’m not going to tell you about the Giza Dream Sheets, I didn’t buy these. My wife bought these.

I’m certain that she did not know what Michael Lindell position is on this or that or that that sway her one way or another from buying these. She had gotten some type of deal somewhere. Either from a friend or something that she had online, some type of deal where she could get them at a really good price and so she jumped on it. But I want to show you some of the packagings here.

So this came in the package. This is the actual package that the sheets came in here. Let me show you this. This is the little write-up.

Everything is branded with him.

He is a part of the brand.

And think about this, nowadays even furniture brand of any sort anything that you would consider furniture or bedroom material. Have you seen anyone promoting a pillow or a blanket based on personality?

Where the person that’s selling it because they’ve built up a personality there’s no commercials or something else?

You don’t see it very often at all, especially in this marketplace, but you can use it in any marketplace. It doesn’t matter what it is that you’re trying to sell.

Here’s a note from him.

Hello, I’m Mike Lindell the inventor of MyPillow for the longest time I’ve wanted to come out with these sheets. But until now, I haven’t been able to find anything that held up to my high standards. And he goes on and on about this Egyptian cotton and everything about it is just very brilliant, very well written includes one flat sheet and tells you the contents signed by Michael Sandel.

It means something because people know who he is. He’s become a celebrity to some people. He’s a joke to some people. He’s a crazy person.

But there’s more to it. I gotta show you the rest of this. So this is the packaging this is the product that’s what you would expect from a specialized direct sale of a high-end product that you’re getting through the mail right.

Then there was this piece that was in it. Separate envelopes, padded envelopes there’s a letter in here, Lindell Recovery Networks.

So if you don’t know about his story, he was a drug addict for the longest time and was able to recover was able he found you know Jesus, and everything else. LindellRecoveryNetwork.org.

Here’s a promotion for that and also one of the shows that he promotes the hope report show. So he’s got a little ad for his side things there.

We’ve got this is the actual receipt for MyPillow.

We’ve got the MyPillow Product Catalog.

So he’s got the catalog is promoting all those other materials is for a pretty standard, but still it’s very, it’s very direct. Everything has his name and his picture pasted all over it. You can’t get away from them. Save $10 On your next my pillow order they try and get you one up here right away.

Here’s Lindell TV, he started his own TV station, what have you, FrankSpeech.com. It’s got all the different people that are involved.

So here’s the political thing, put right in there. It’s part of the product. It’s part of the presentation. It’s hilarious. Watch the whole Intel report. I mean, he is, he is all over all of this. It’s great stuff. And then the coup de gras, this is what gets you every time this is. And this is what I watch for these types of things.

When my wife told me that this was included in the package, I said, Oh, this is just great. If you haven’t heard about this, he has his book.

His autobiography is self-published autobiography. Look at this, it’s got I’m not sure if this will show up. So it’s got him I think that might be his mug shot or whatever, him before he got better. There he is happy.

What are the odds from crack addict to CEO Michael Lindell, the title of the book. The whole thing is like that, here’s the back with him and a picture of him as a kid.

For one thing, it’s kind of a funny, funny design of a book. But at the same time, who includes a book, when you buy bedsheets, who does that?

Someone that either understands or that he has people that understand this game, they understand the idea of personality and being able to really reach out and touch people and meet them where they’re at. He knows people aren’t going to buy his stuff if they don’t like him. One way or the other.

I mean, they might, they might just grin their grit their teeth and bear it and just go through and buy it if they really had a good promotion from someone else. But he’s gonna win them over one way or the other.

He’s gonna bring them his story of redemption, no matter what it was even this little, this little thing my wife missed it a little tacked up just in the envelope. It’s just a little quote from Revelation there.

Which I mean, it’s completely on brand, and probably completely change genuine. I mean, this is just who this guy is, from my understanding everyone I know that I’ve never met this guy, either on a business level or political level or what have you.

They say he is pretty much what you see on TV is he’s very genuine. And that is something you can’t buy stuff like that.

But you can promote yourself.

When you’re that confident in where you’re coming from. You can promote ease. It’s not like he’s even promoting himself. He’s not running for president or anything to my knowledge. But he is using his personality, to be able to sell his products. It’s the simplest thing in the world.

It worked for him before he got controversial. It’s working for him now. It’s absurd.

I’m certain that it’s completely changed his model because it’s he got kicked out of a bunch of stores that everything for is supportive of Trump and his question, you know, the elections and all that stuff.

Very interesting gentleman, very interesting business model.

It’s something that you can take, though.

Number one, I’d say you know, look at the possibility of possibly being controversial in your, in your marketplace.

Look at the possibility of putting yourself out there as not that you’re promoting yourself as a celebrity, but you’re a personality, you’re somebody that people can get to know in a sense and you’re out there that you’re accessible. Think about writing a book, a book works in any marketplace.

So that’s all I got. I’ve got my own book, 9 Ways to Amazon-Proof Your Business. You can get a free copy at AmazonProofBook.com.

You go get that right now download for free. That’s all I have for tonight because I gotta go. The time is up. You have a good one. We’ll be here tomorrow.

Get out there and let the magic happen.

Be Something vs. Be Someone πŸ‘—πŸ§΄ (Coco Chanel Quote)

Brian talks about the power of having a personality that people identify with your company.

Be something versus be someone.

Hi I’m Brian Pombo, welcome back to Brian J. Pombo Live.

I had this quote from Coco Chanel. For those of you who can’t see the screen, I’m going to put this out there, I’ll read it for you.

“How many cares one loses when one decides not to be something, but to be someone.” Coco Chanel.

Okay, so this is a very interesting idea because there’s always this push to be something, to make something of yourself. And she’s playing around with the terminology here because oftentimes, that will lead a person to want to be someone.

Being someone is basically the concept of being famous, or having some form of celebrity whatsoever.

So I talk about this in my book, 9 Ways to Amazon-Proof Your Business.

I have a whole chapter, because one of the nine ways is be someone, or be somebody I think is how I put it in that one be somebody. It’s chapter four.

You can get them by the way, you get a free copy at AmazonProofBook.com.

But what does that mean?

Because you could take it to the egotistical end of things, but I’m talking about a very practical, if not pragmatic way of looking at this in terms of if you’re attempting to get something out there.

If you want attention, if you want to stand out for any reason, I don’t mean you personally, but you want something done, maybe there’s a cause that you’re trying to push.

In most cases, I’m talking to business owners and executives who have a product or a service that they want to get out there. If that’s you, then you’re going to want to have a personality that can deliver it because nothing is more tangible.

Nothing’s more sticky if I can use an online term, talking about web pages being sticky, and so forth. Nothing has stick, like a personality.

People either connect with a personality or they don’t connect with a personality, but nothing beats it.

Yeah, you can have brands, you can have feelings attached to brands, you can have concepts and ideas attached to inanimate objects, colors, and all these other things that come along with logos and branding. But in the end, nothing beats a personality, nothing beats having someone that people can connect with.

So becoming someone, in my mind, is really a very important thing to do if you’re looking to get out there and stand out, which is why I made a whole chapter about it.

I use examples of all the famous people out there who you know, for one reason or another who in some cases, they’re famous just because they’re famous. But that doesn’t stop them from making money off the fact that they are someone, they are someone that everybody knows they are somebody that is known.

Grant Cardone says, it’s not about who you know, it’s who knows you.

That’s the same way of saying a similar thing, even though I don’t fully agree with that concept. But the idea is there, it’s if you can get to be known, you can use that to your advantage and you can do just about anything from there.

So hopefully this is helpful to you. Like I said, go download a free copy of my book, AmazonProofBooks. com. That’s all I got for tonight.

So it’s a cool quote and something that you could go back and forth on and debate and I’d love to hear your thoughts on it.

So leave a comment wherever you’re watching or listening to this. We’ll see you tomorrow.

In the meantime, get out there and let the magic happen.

Make’Em Laugh & Take Their Money, by Dan Kennedy πŸ·πŸ’ΈπŸ’Έ

Brian talks about an old Dan Kennedy book about using humor and your personality to attract people to liking you, to help you in sales.

Make’Em Laugh and Take Their Money, by Dan Kennedy.

Great book.

Hi, I’m Brian Pombo, welcome back to Brian J. Pombo Live.

Today I want to review Dan Kennedy’s, Make’Em Laugh & Take Their Money, this is a good one, because the whole point of the book is, it’s very much playing to the content marketing person.

So if you’re looking to develop content of any sort, this is a great book.

It doesn’t focus solely just on humor, it focuses on how to basically make yourself more likeable. And there’s this great quote, in here, and humor is just a way of doing it.

Of course, I lost the spot, but I had it I had it highlighted, so it’s easy to find, okay.

So this is the beginning of chapter 11. He says, for most people, as a speaker, or in writing, being good humor is enough, you don’t actually need to be funny. You just need the audience to like you, and have some fun with you, and that’s really what it’s all about.

It’s funny, because it takes me back in that this was an intimidating book, for me, especially since I’ve always, No, I haven’t always, I’ve, in the last handful of years, found myself to be less and less funny.

And it’s one of those things where growing up, it wasn’t that case, I was a class clown.

Over time, I learned that my humor was very much with collaboration, it happened around other people, in the moment, off the top of my head that was most my humorous a lot of character based stuff.

That doesn’t always translate to everyday life, you know, you got to have the right people around you, for it to really work. It’s just my style.

In fact, I had committed to humor very early on. So for those of you don’t know, I was in a comedy troupe. And thought I was going to be a comedic actor from a very early age, and all the way up till my early years in college, and that all fell apart and life took a completely different turn.

But it was one of those things that’s always been in the back of my mind. And so you’ll see on occasion, I’ll bring up books that have to do with comedy and humor and acting, because it ties back into content.

Our whole discussion about content marketing, and understanding the humor end of things is a big deal. And Dan Kennedy, it’s a very unusual book for Dan, not in the fact that he doesn’t tear things up and make lists and put put little ideas together, he does.

It’s on a topic that I’ve never heard anyone really hit with the same gusto.

And so I don’t know if that makes a whole lot of sense. But this is a great book is really is a good book, because it helps put in perspective, the fact what really, the thing that he keeps saying over and over again, is that you don’t have to try to be funny.

You just have to know what you like what you find funny, and be open about sharing that with other people. That’s all it takes.

That’s in content marketing, it doesn’t matter what you’re trying to sell, or what you’re where you’re trying to lead people to. It’s just about being confident enough with yourself confident enough with what you’re talking about, that you don’t mind tossing in a low humor, just to ease things over and to get to know the person it’s all about knowing, liking and being known, liked and trusted by people, right.

So hopefully that makes sense.

Grab a copy of this book, when you get a chance.

Also grab a copy of my book, 9 Ways to Amazon-Proof Your Business.

It gives you kind of a very broad sense of what your strategies that you can use in your business long term. 9 Ways to Amazon-Proof Your Business you can get a free copy of AmazonProofBook.com.

Personality Marketing: Right For You?

Personality marketing, personality marketing. Let me say this right, personality marketing. Is it right for you?

Hi, I’m Brian Pombo. Welcome back to the Orange Office in Grants Pass, Oregon.

Is this thing on? Is this thing on? The only reason why I had the mice gag is because we’re talking about comedians today. I got to see something that, I think just came out, which is really unusual for me.

Let me make sure I get my microphone so you can actually hear me. I don’t normally see things when they first come out. It takes me a while. I catch up real late on these things.

Netflix just put out the latest season as I understand it, just put out the latest season of, uh, comedians in cars getting coffee. Which if you haven’t ever seen it, very worth seeing if you enjoy watching any type of comedians whatsoever.

Jerry Seinfeld hosts the show. He takes a different car out that he thinks represents the person he’s going to be picking up. He picks up a famous person. Quite oftentimes someone that has something to do with comedy, even if they’re not stand up comedians.

In this particular episode, first episode, I saw the thing for it. I said, well, we got to watch that right away. It was Eddie Murphy. If you aren’t familiar with Eddie Murphy, I don’t know what to tell you.

He’s an amazing comedic actor going all the way back to the early eighties is when he first hit the scene, with Saturday Night Live and so forth, go back and watch old Eddie Murphy movies and you’ll be caught up. But Eddie Murphy’s on there with Jerry Seinfeld. They’re talking about comedy and there is great stuff throughout the whole thing.

There are a lot of parallels that come back to personality marketing, I wanted to point out one to you right away, even if you haven’t seen it, this won’t ruin it for you.

In the talk, they’re driving around, they’re sitting drinking coffee, they’re driving around talking.

At one point he talks about being at a point where he had so many people that just liked him and they were there to just see him.

It didn’t matter what he said. They were gonna find it funny because they enjoyed him.

They were already kind of followers. They had already bought in. They were indoctrinated into the Eddie Murphy Colt. That’s not what he said. That’s my own words. But it has a parallel and you can see it across the board.

You take any major personality, even somebody in a small niche, if they have a bit of a following. If they have people that either find them a celebrity or an expert or see them as somebody that’s kind of beyond where they’re at with something, they will adopt kind of a colt like personality to them and it doesn’t matter who they are.

It doesn’t matter if they’re a sports figure. It doesn’t matter if they’re president of the United States. It doesn’t matter who they are.

People will pull this along and the people that ended up following them will follow them blindly, defend them blindly. Just thinking off the top of my head, OJ Simpson, anyone that remembers, he was a popular, very popular football player, professional football player, and he wasn’t all that popular at the time when he got into trouble with the law and had a situation where he was on trial for killing his wife.

He was known, but he wasn’t that popular across the board. People my age and younger, they knew the name.

They saw him in movies like The Naked Gun and everything, but they didn’t know that much him. But he still had a following. He still had people that defended him no matter what came out, no matter how much it looked like he was guilty. You still have people to this day that will defend him, not based on facts or the idea that they watched every hour of his trial because it was all televised.

It has nothing to do with it. They believed in the person, they were stuck on the person.

It’s a very powerful tool, but it obviously it can totally be misused and it’s misused all the time. And if you’re going to adopt personality marketing in your business, you have to realize the potential for one of these things happening.

Let me get back to Eddie Murphy. Eddie Murphy was talking about everybody just being enamored with him and to the point where he would go out on stage and he tested out and he just stopped talking and just stand there. And he said, and people would laugh and he said one time he held it for 10 minutes and people kept laughing.

He kind of move his face a little bit and he’d kind of look a little funny, or he cleared his throat and people would start laughing. He knew that he was at a special place, and I think I’ve heard him discuss it in other interviews.

He talks about the dangers of having that type of following and how it can go to your head. You can let it go to your head. You can think you’re really hot stuff or whatever else.

There’s a lot of power in personality marketing. I encourage people to use it, but no misuse it and realize that when you’re out there as a personality, when you’re out there doing any type of content marketing and you’re doing it consistently as a person.

You’re going to have people that are FOR YOU and you’re going to have people that are AGAINST you.

The people that are against you can sometimes be just as useful. Who do you think shares more about Alexandria Ocasio Cortez than people who dislike her? I think I see much more memes and everything else from those people than anybody else.

She’s gotten more popular all over the people that disdain her. Same with Donald Trump on the other end. They thrive off of people being against them. It cements the people who are for them into being more for them. It promotes them.

Even though it’s promoting a negative side, it’s still promoting their name and their brand out there. So don’t be scared of negativity. Negativity comes along with building up your personality brand and putting it out there more and more.

These are all things to consider when thinking about having some more personality branding in your business.

Writing books and everything we’re going to talk about in the future because I’ve gotten to interview a lot of amazing writers and all their unique stories about what led them to end up writing books, but the results of them writing a book are all very, very common.

We’re going to talk about that more tomorrow.
