Caffeine, you and your business.

Hi, I’m Brian Pombo, welcome back to Brian J. Pombo Live.

Today I want to talk with you from a kind of a different setting, just trying something a little bit different being that the weather’s changed, our smoke in this area has calmed down. It’s currently September of 2020. And we’ve gone through quite a quite a hassle of probably good two, three weeks of really harsh smoke and wildfires. Nothing too close to here. We’ve been saved from that but it’s tough being outside, you know, hazardous, unhealthy and everything else.

So done with that, hopefully, fingers crossed, everything’s going to be taken care of from here on out with a with a more wetter weather and a lot cooler temperatures. So that makes it a lot tougher for fire to go crazy.

Let’s talk a little bit about caffeine though.

Because it has to do with a personal you know, we talk about a lot about principals strategies tactics here that help you in your business. And a whole lot of that is your own personal space.

And this is a tactic that you can use and it may it may border on a strategy also depending on how you use it. But I’ve grown up for a very long time as I mentioned on an earlier video, from a very early age drinking coffee, I was probably a boy.

I was probably eight or nine years old when I started drinking coffee. And not every single day but started you know, with a lot of cream and sugar in it. And you know, tastes like candy. You put enough of that stuff in it.

And then as I got older, you know, pretty much drinking black coffee.

And then….oh nice a wasp landed on my arm.

And then a little bit later, you know, switching to black coffee and then back to putting more cream but no sugar just using some type of sweetener in it. And I’ve done that for years and years lost a lost a bunch of weight.

A couple years back about three years back lost a bunch of weight, but I didn’t change my coffee regimen. If anything, I drink more coffee. And, but the ability to be able to lose weight and keep it off, encouraged me to say well, I wouldn’t mind trying other things because I wouldn’t think I’d be able to give up all these gave him a lot of carbs and stuff.

I wouldn’t think I’d be able to give up that stuff before I did. But afterwards, it really wasn’t that big of a deal. And it’s extremely easy not to go back.

So I saw a couple of videos online of people discussing giving up caffeine, and most of the time, it never really appealed to me because I as I got older, it didn’t really affect me. I drank it. And it didn’t really do much for me.

It’s like the only time I’d ever really noticed this if I didn’t drink it. But if I drank it, I just felt normal and then I was okay with that because I like having something warm to drink in the morning.

It was no big deal and that the taste didn’t bother me like it did when you when you first try it. And so it was one of those things where I didn’t need to give it up.

But I’ve said I wondered that someone was saying, you know, they’re more focused and they can they can do a lot more stuff now that they’re no longer hooked on coffee.

And I don’t think it’s that big of a deal.

Honestly, you go your entire life drinking coffee, it I don’t think it really makes that big of a deal.

In a lot of cases. I think a lot of the health hazards of coffee is overblown, in a lot of ways because I’ve known people that have gone their whole lives without having any issues. That or any that you can tell that came directly from coffee, so I’m not I’m not out there saying everyone should quit, but I tried it out. I tried quitting.

And that first those first handful of days, the withdrawals, just headaches, just horrible, horrible headaches and I don’t get headaches. I’m not a headache person I don’t get them very often very unusual.

I have to be extremely dehydrated or something like that. And this was one of those things. After that happened though, I just a couple things. I noticed a couple things I noticed one thing I noticed was that I wasn’t as thirsty. And I drink…oh, I don’t know how this would equate. I’ve got one of those shaker bottles. That’s about, I guess, 30 ounces, something like that. And I drank probably four or five of those a day pretty consistently.

After I gave up coffee, though, and alcohol, caffeine, I haven’t haven’t drank soda in a long time or anything like that. So I’ve stayed away from caffeine overall. And when I did when I did that, I noticed I was less thirsty.

Once I got over the initial being tired, I was fine. My energy level actually leveled out.

Whereas when I have caffeine you kind of when you’re drinking it, kind of have a little boost in the morning and it kind of slowly tapers off now I’m pretty more consistent in terms of energy. And then when I’m done at the end of the day, I’m done. It’s just it’s over.

And overall my mood and everything has been more stable. Just in general, I’m pretty level and when wacky things happen, that kind of test, your stability, your mood and so forth hasn’t affected me.

Hasen’t affected me, that it’s a lot easier to kind of step away from that and not let it overcome you and just handled things properly. That’s been probably the biggest, biggest advantage.

The other advantage is, which is a strange one is that now I can have caffeine every once in a while. Like I had a coffee this morning while I was meeting with some friends and had some had have a cup of coffee because the lady wouldn’t come back and refill, so, one cup, had just one cup of coffee.

It gives you quite a boost. Much more than I would have ever ever felt before would have noticed. And so it had a nice boost.

And so if I have a day where I just need to go power through the day, I’ll have a cup of coffee or a couple cups of coffee, and that’s a that’s a go go day. I do really well.

If I have too much though, the next day on dead, I have a really tough time your body wants more and more. I don’t get withdrawals or anything from just one come and I also I’ll drink, you know, a healthy energy drink and so forth.

I have some friends that promote a healthy energy drink. So I’ll drink one of those on occasion and that’s not as not as high a boost as coffee or anything but it’s more powerful because I’m not on it all the time.

It has a lot more umph to it, which is which is helpful when it’s needed. And I don’t think it’s that damaging if you do it just every once in a while as long as you don’t get hooked to it, and you can keep stable, and for me, that’s been the biggest pro, I haven’t seen a huge change in focus.

That hasn’t been a big difference for me because I’m not a very focused person. And it’s difficult for me to stay focused. And that’s been pretty consistent.

But other than that, everything’s going really good. So just an idea if you ever want to challenge yourself a little bit, and you’re a caffeine addict.

It’s not that big a deal. I really don’t think it’s that big of a deal. But if you’d like to give it a shot and see if you can actually handle it, give it a week or two and see what happens.

I’ve been doing it for I guess, a couple months now or something I gotta go back and look, I think it’s been a few months that I’ve been off of off of daily caffeine injections. So interesting idea.
