Self doubt and advisors.

Hi I’m Brian Pombo, welcome to back to Brian J. Pombo Live.

Today, I want to talk a little bit about a situation that a friend of mines in, and it brought up a lot of past scenarios that I’ve dealt with other clients going through similar scenarios, where they’re not exactly sure where to go next.

And it’s kind of created a rule for when I’m working with clients. One thing that I insist upon early on in is that they only work with me, if they’re going to bring me on as an advisor in a particular area, you know, whether it be content marketing, or whether it be overall business strategy, that they don’t have a whole bunch of other people advising them on these topics.

Obviously we’ve all got different advisors for different things, you may have a pastor for some type of spiritual advisor, you may have a marriage counselor or what have you.

But when it comes to working directly in an area that you need help in in your hiring somebody to bring on that help, make sure they’re your only source for advice other than what you already have in your mind, and your own intuition.

Because it’s tough, it’s really tough as a business owner, just trying to come up with ideas on your own, not just ideas, but trying to come up with the the proper pathway, because there seems like a million of them out there.

And there’s at least two or three that you’re probably tossing around with where to go next.

It’s really easy to get sidetracked and confused on what’s the right way to do because we’ve all we’ve all got different voices in our head telling us different directions.

It reminded me and this is a funny thing. I rarely do this and those of you who listen and watch on a regular basis know, I rarely will quote anything from the Bible. Just because people get turned off by that now I’m not meaning to be religious or anything of that sort.

But this quote popped in my head, I went and I looked it up.

So I want to read this to you real quick. This doesn’t have anything to do with religion. This is this has to do with self doubt.

And it says that, “the doubter is like the surf tossed and driven by the wind, man of this sort, devious and erratic and all that he does must not expect to receive anything from the Lord.”

And that sounds sounds like it’s religious, but you got to think of, okay, you’re not going to get anything good out of life, if you’re caught in that double mindednessโ€ฆwhere does it talk about that here? Is this the quote where it talks about here? Or here? I thought I had it right here.

And I think that was that was the, that was the gist of it there. I think it’s, yeah, I see what it is. It’s a different translation, I oftentimes, it’s discusses being double minded.

And it’s that idea of you have too much going on in your head, you’ve got one side down, you go this way, one side telling you go that way, and you feel like you’re caught in the middle of a fight.

Instead of getting into all the details regarding that, I want you to realize it’s tough to be the person in charge to be the one that’s making the decisions.

That’s why it’s important on certain situations to bring in somebody that has a little bit of perspective.

In the end, you’ve got to be the one to really go where your gut is sending you where your intuition is telling you where to go. And you got to base it off of off of what you already have in front of you.

We’re off of what a trusted advisor would bring to you that don’t split it between multiple advisors, you’re going to get confused beyond belief, it’s not worth it. Make sure that you’re teamed up with the right type of person.

This is from a person who has been involved in consulting and coaching for years and years. So it’s definitely what I would see.

See the people that have moved ahead, the best are the ones that I have.

I’ve won their trust early on. So you have to find someone that you trust. If you don’t trust them. Then don’t bring them on as an advisor, it’s a bad move.

But if you are going to bring them on as an advisor, lock, lock your arms with them and move forward. Don’t be double minded. Don’t get caught in confusion.

When you’re in a situation of confusion, you got to stop. And you got to turn off the voices, the ones in your head and the ones that are all around you. I don’t know if that’s helpful to you at all.

But that’s where my mind was at tonight.
